I don't mean you might be better off working alone just yesterday, from reading your posts it sounds like you might be better off working alone on a daily basis. I know it's important to answer phone calls and all but unless you are getting 10-15 calls daily the extra expense and headaches of having an employee could be holding your business back from growing. I know when I work alone I am much more efficient and there is no stress until I'm trying to do 4 jobs a day. I have my 18 year old son working for me and if he decides he doesn't want to do anymore I'll be in no hurry to hire anyone else. Even when I work alone I manage to answer at least 70% of calls and the 30% I miss get called back within 30 minutes and usually within 10 minutes.
Today is a 4 job day for me

4 jobs is tough alone for me now that I'm in my 40's unless they are all 4 rooms or less without stairs on everyone of them. Up until I was 35-37 I thought I was a machine and could do all the jobs possible from sun up till sun down, I can still out work my 18 year old but damn I'm tired when I get home.

If it's something contagious then do your customer a favor and stay home.
yah, wouldnt it be nice if the customer did us the same courtesy. I cant count the number of times I walked into the house and the customer told me their children had the flu, etc.

Work sick? Hell I have done jobs with a sprained ankle that I should of been using crutches and used my wand as a cane. I also worked the day after I had my gall bladder removed.
I guess we're that kind of special breed that have to fight off whatever comes our way. I shattered my ribs falling on the rim of dumpster ( don't ask what I was doing there) I was screaming on the ground for a few minutes, before I was able to get up on my own. That side of rib cage is sensitive to this day . I had to take one day off and my wife was taking care of business ( not CC at that time). She left me home with a bed sheet attached to the column of the bed so I can lift myself. This task was very painful, but still funny at the same time, so I suffered twice, once when I was lifting myself up and second time when I was laughing seeing that in the mirror. It was hilarious. I wouldn't want to experience again, ever.

You said you hired help, but they are practically useless. Why do you think you have issues with staff? I have sometimes similar problems so trying to figure out the best way to hire people.
