Or what's the worst thing you have caught an employee doing? I caught one of my employees spray misting the wand in the air in clean rooms. When I confronted him he said the customer will not know as long as the room is wet.

I said yes but I know, your fired!

So what's the worst thing you have ever saw or heard a carpet cleaner doing???

Rob Allen.

Here is a video we did based on the first part of this thread. Be forewarned it is one crazy video. But so is this thread.[video=dailymotion;x6ses1]
Only thing I saw really wrong with that video is a true hack would never stoop down to try and get a stain out! :D Other than that it covered nearly everything that you should NOT do in a customer's home. I was thinking he might get arrested going into Wal-mart with that mask on.

I heard a carpet cleaning tech for another company in my area got fired for watching porn in a customer's house.
I was cleaning in a beautiful woman's house once. I opened the master bedroom closet door and a bunch of pictures fell. They were of the home owner in various sexual situations. I couldn't get them up fast enough but there must been at least 20. Needless to say I learned my lesson back then never open closet doors and always ask do they want the closets cleaned. Imagine if she walked in and I had them in my hand. Awkward!!

Ok, are we in confession? I was in a vacant house one morning, and had drank pretty heavily the night before. I was glad the house was empty, bc I had to SHIT. I was on the toilet, halfway thru making out the invoice, when I heard a sound. I was like, is that the furnace? NO ITS THE GARAGE OPENER! So I wrapped it up, flushed the toilet on the worst smelling shit I've ever taken, shut the door. This bathroom was on the second floor, there were four bathrooms in the house (that I saw). I walked towards the steps to act like I was just measuring and finished the invoice. This gorgeous woman met me at the top of the steps, I don't know if she was the owner, or the realtor. She had a blazer on, with NO SHIRT on underneath. It was unbelievable. My jaw dropped, and I fumbled for my words. She confirmed the rooms I was supposed to clean, and then said she had to change her clothes. OF ALL THE FN BATHROOMS IN THE HOUSE she had to go into the one I JUST came out of. No time to say anything...needless to say, when she came out, there wasn't much she had to say. She wasn't sweet anymore, she didn't even look me in the eyes, lol, the most embarrassing moment ever!!! I don't shit in vacant home anymore.

Start listening to your customers instructions, you will keep more of them, this way!

Here is a REAL crazy one.

A bait and switch cleaner used to rip off his customers at his job.
He struck out on his own.
He had "small phallus" syndrome and bought a big Vortech box truck.
He got a bigger head and bragged on the internet, "me best, U suck".
He was banned everywhere on the net so he started his own site.
He befriended lowlifes and felons to carry out his vileness.
He slanders, threatens and rips off legit distributors and cleaners now.
To keep up his ruse he plots to destroy or undermine legit bulletin boards.
He slyly befriended a legit distributor to give off an air of legitimacy.
This led to a few gullible advertisers.,
He fools advertisers while funneling truckmount machine, chemical and mods sales to his "thugs".
Little does he know that many are on to these "thugs" and are steering clear.
;)
John gerding? :p

update.. had an employee try to bait and switch a loyal customer. To boost his commision. I went to the house and fired him on the spot. I finished the rest of the day with the other tech.

He tried to pressure her into buying our protectant at pice per square foot for 15c a sf.
since some of our competitors add it free to traffic lanes our policy is at cost for any area they choose. Since our process is 100% residue free repeat customers rarely need protectant unless they have pets.
We charge $.20 a sq ft for SG, people buy it all the time, and we don't even push them, just ask, would you like anything Scotchgarded? If they do they say yes, and if they don't we just say OK. And we always show them the price first.

This incident just happened today. I have finished my cleaning for the day and did a few chores to the Legend when at 4pm the door bell rings. I answered to find a guy that says he has a carpet and tile cleaning business. He said that he needed a job done for him in a town 25 miles away and asked if I was interested in covering for him. He said the person who was supposed to do the job " blew his truck mount up", and that the custy has been waiting with all the furniture moved out. He was in a lettered pickup truck with no signs of any cleaning equipment in back. When I queried him about the job he told me there was some carpet to be cleaned and One sofa he quoted custy $50. Evidently he saw my truck from the road, and said " what the hey". I respectfully declined as it kind of freaked me out. Was I supposed to help this stranger? Put my wife and our Friday evening on hold? Drive 25 miles? Deal with someone that is probably teed off, and clean an unknown sofa for $30 less than what I regularly charge? What say you?
On one hand, you pry could have gotten a customer, and cheerleader for life, on the other hand, if they didn't like your pricing, doesn't sound like its worth the trouble.

In another story the worst things I ever did were accidents... I once tracked muddy foot prints into a house not realizing there was mud on my shoes....DOH!!!
and second I put a knee kicker right through a wall before i knew how to use it...whoops... and third I shattered a vase that was on top of a piano when my vac line found its way through the railings on the stairs...this has happened twice actually...so now I do double tie offs around landings ect.. luckily both times they were 5-10 dollar vases...
I have a customer that used to put pink sticky notes on her spots, I used to just prespray them and suck them up as I cleaned...until one unknowingly got stuck to the bottom of my shoe. I was cleaning, and saw a pink spot, and thought, oh I must have missed that on my walk through, I'll hit it in a sec with some red one. Then I saw another, and another, and again, I was like wtf is going on, where are these coming from? After I noticed about 10 spots, I realized they were in my footprints, I thought oh shit, and immediately started trying to get them out, I showed her just in case they didn't, and with an iron, and some red one, got them all out. Luckily, she is a good customer, and it didn't fase her too much. But, ever since then, I just write down issues/spots, and pick up/ vacuum the post its up prior to cleaning, smh.
