I have run into a few of these tags lately. (Pic attached).

People tell me I can shampoo and dry vac it with no danger...but the chemical is water based.......

Tag says "steam cleaning causes excessive staining"...but, there is no tag with the actual names of the fiber. It looks like fake cotton. I assumed it was viscose.

I have also attached pictures of the sofa. Looked like greasy oxidization to me, but it could also be cellulose growing, right?

Are the furniture companies just putting 'S' cleaning instructions to cover their liability?

I turn couches like this down regularly, but I want to be able to do something for these customer, short of solvent cleaning in their living room. The couches are all white, and have the same verbiage on the tags.

I have tested with an upholstery tool before, but it looked really bad when it was dry.

I want to try a foam hand sprayer with an acidic detergent, bush and whit towel extraction. I was also considering a cotton shampoo, with a reducing agent in it.

Thoughts? I want to be able to clean pieces like this.
