Good morning everyone. I am new to the group, and have found this site to be very useful. I have spent many hours researching, watching, training, etc, on the carpet/floor cleaning business. I have decided to start my own. I currently have a full-time job, but I am self-employed. This will be a side business to start. I have roughly $10,000 in cash that I am going to put towards the business. I live in an area that has a lot of tile flooring, however, carpet is still here. I am leaning towards the portable route, as there are high rises, condos, etc. But, I feel like I am stuck in the middle of between the portable route or the truckmount route. I can get a loan, easily. Also, looking into family members who may be interested in investing. So, would I not go the truckmount route? Portable route would be the rotovac 360i, with the Ranger 1200 stage 2.

I have seen a few used truckmounts/vehicle that are on the internet. One has a Prochem/SS Rage truckmount 1050 hours. $28k

Anyways, thanks for reading and look forward to the responses.

A used well maintained unit will serve you well. I personally prefer a new unit and we sell those. But do what fits your budget the best. Feel free to post up pictures and ads here and I'll let you know if it's a good value and what questions to ask.

I'd recommend if you have the room for it get both and use whichever fits the job better. TM is obviously going to take a much bigger footprint but if that's not an issue you can always sell it if it doesn't make sense for your & your customers needs. Don't overlook stone floors Too.

As long as the overhead isn’t too much for you, Get a Truckmount first then a porty as a back up that can do those high rise apartments
Most of your work will be on the ground level
If you’re cluey you can get into lots of spots high rise fishing off balconies
I have a TM & portable
Tm is still better than the porty 4stories up so I fished over the 4th story balcony today

With a $200 175rpm scrubber can still clean carpets by encapping whatever your TM can’t get to until you fork out for a porty....

Something like this is awesome cheap price maybe could afford both TM porty
PE500 Extractor with wand and hoses $1,500.00

Thanks for the replies! TM would be the biggest investment side, which I am all for. My overhead cost would be extremely minimum for a TM, excluding wear and tear, and daily operation costs i.e. chemicals, and repairs/servicing.
A couple of truck mounts have been attached. Two separate vehicles.
