Today we actually discussed lay off's. In 35 years never had this discussion. Brutal.

I have to confess. I'm a total hypocrite, I've been prreaching safety and when phone rings, I get exited like little puppy getting treat . What's wrong with me. I'm telling my self" Just do this one and that's it. Can someone stop me?
The truth is, there are no other people in the building and I'm dealing only with one person, but...
It feels so right ( to be working)
I’ve told my property managers I’ll clean by myself in units that have been vacant for atleast 4days. Same thing with commercial as long as it stays clear for that long after I’m out. Done just one unit and nothing for commercial. My business is majority residential lived in and if I had to guess 60%+ 55years old and up. So this has hit me hard.

Its starting to get real out there.
It will get worse before it gets better.

It feels like the 2nd inning has just started.

Bad things are going to happen.
Matt it was really tough looking each employee in the eye and trying to decide future steps.

@rob allen

Did the Gov. shut you down or did the phone stop ringing?????
We are still booking some. It has definitely quilted down this week some.

At the same time I have another indicator I watch that says some demand is starting to resurface and in my region may see a slight uptick in bizz. We have been essentially locked down now for 3 and a half weeks.

Jim, I don't know about you, but I haven't seen a huge difference in traffic in our area. 85 still gets rather hefty in the morning, and the 485 offramp is still a booger.

My neighborhood, on the other hand, was quiet enough that I listened to the coyotes sing for a good while this morning before the sun came up. It was eerie and beautiful at the same time. Normally, you wouldn't be able to hear them for all the cars.

How about your neck of the woods?
Have u seen the smog difference in LA? Amazing, clear blue skies over the city.

DISCLAIMER!!!
I am not a representative nor am I an adviser, I am only relaying what I understood, Please Consult a professional.

I had a web conference (on Zoom) today. Since I am a member of Small Business Administration. We were explained how the funding will work (at least here in California)

The government will give us all loans (We/You must apply. if we qualify) those loans must (primarily) be used to keep payroll and used towards business expense in order to stay in business. Anything left over you will need to pay back at a certain (low) interest loan. For what I understood is that this will be a one loan not an ongoing payment. In other words it wont be a " keep workers on and they keep paying you" You all should contact your nearest SBA and get a adviser to explain it better. There seems to be more help for businesses that are incorporated. However We were told that all of this is new and that we should all apply for the upfront 10k. The 10k if you are able to get will NOT be needed to be repaid, that amount will be a grant that will Not need to be repaid. Worst case is you only get 10K non repayable

I would if I were all of you apply!!
I did

It’s finally hit bottom. Here’s my schedule for the week.

Todd, I cranked up my facebook and google based ads. I have 3 voicemails and 4 job request waiting in my email inbox. The ads all just went live yesterday afternoon. I do have a pro marketing company doing my ads now so I am not sure what they are actually doing, but it is working. People are still responding to paid ads.

Fortunately here in Ohio we did not make the high activity list the government made. Here in central Ohio MOST of the deaths have come from 2 nursing homes. One in Worthington.

on a side note............

So how much trouble is Vegas in????

How long can it stay closed before permanent damage is done??

Or has that already happened???
Good question. I think there already has been a lot of irreversible damage. Between hotel workers, taxi drivers, restaurant workers, and all the related industries there’s over a half million people in Vegas alone out of work. Add in all the non-essential businesses and that number is closer to a million. I still have both trucks and an employee ready to work but I’m afraid that carpet cleaning is low on peoples list of priorities right now. Over the last month the only calls I’ve been getting have been for move in / move out cleanings and a couple emergency cleanings because of sick dogs.

We are hoping once the stay home order is over we will be busier than we can handle but I’m afraid people will not have any discretionary money to spend.

I agree, when they give the all clear, we will be in the midst of a very deep recession.

It’s going to be 2008 all over again but 10x worse. Las Vegas was hard hit in 2008 because even when the rest of the country was starting to heal people still didn’t have the extra funds to travel and vacation which is what Vegas is built on. I suspect when the casinos are allowed to re-open they may run around half capacity when they typically used to be 95-100% booked. I’m not sure what that will mean, can a casino survive on half their income?

It’s frustrating because all I can do is sit and watch all this happen. I’ll keep doing empty homes and businesses as I’m able but I’m not pushing residential right now.
