Post a pic.
Here is a pic that I took from today, I usually regenerate my 16k grain water softener every 2 weeks, this time it has been 3 weeks and tomorrow i am off and I will regenerate it. even though I regenerate I get the same color. Our water is 7.1 grains per US gallon. I can't tell where in the chart it stands. About a year and half ago when I bought this water softener I use to get closer to green color but lately this light brown color, it also froze this harsh winter, I don't know if that has anything to do with this. I notice the cleaning is not as smooth as before. May be time for another softener.

It looks lighter than 3gpg to me. If that's the case I think you are in good shape since it's still in the soft range.

Since you said it froze, it is possible that some of the pipes inside cracked and the water is somehow bypassing the resin bed. If it's not a sealed softener you can unscrew the top from the tank, dump everything out and see what's going on with the internal plumbing. You might be able to replace anything that's broken or make something that would work.

I bought this one the manufacturer is sending me a new one sings how the threads were leaking all over the place. They stated I can keep it so I'm going to try Teflon tape as well but it did drop the hardness quite a bit.View attachment 85258
Looks very small, how ofter do you have to regenerate it? I have a bigger one and I regenerate mine every 2 weeks.

So I went with an onboard RO/DI system from US Water Systems. I wanted to be able to make pure water onsite. The main unit (white in color) is a RO unit. It has a 120v water pump. Draws about 1 amp. The blue cartridge on the left is a DI cartridge. My water locally is between 225 and 550 water hardness. I am averaging 4ppm in my undermount tank. The unit is spec'd at 300 gpd at aprox 600ppm I believe. The RO unit has a input / output meter so I can see the hardness coming in and out. I thought about redoing the plumbing so the output sensor would be after the DI but decided against it since I have a handheld hardness meter. So far the only time I outrun water production is when I do tile. So far I am really happy with it. Filter changes will cost about $250. Depending on usage I should get 6 to 12 months per filter set. All in it was about $2200. I ran a separate quick connect input for the system and ran a line back to my tank quick connect so I can easily bypass the system if needed. The system shuts off when the output line reaches 40 psi. So the system works just like it would if you connected a regular hose.

There is no such thing as salt free water softeners.
To remove water hardness there is only one method and that is ionic exchange which requires salt to regenerate.
The no salt systems add chemicals to the water to help prevent the hardness from sticking, but it's still there.
Just get an RV water softener.

There are no salt systems that use electrical current to break down the molecules that cause hard water. There are no chemicals involved. FREIJE is one that is used quite often in a TM system. I've install quite a few of them.

Survivor water filter works even better than I thought! I was also able to filter out 1 gallon in less than 10mins, not 45 mins. It's really light, compact, and does produce very clean and good-tasting water. When we were hiking, we decided to try it for the first time in a puddle that was particularly dirty and ended up with water that was perfectly clear and tasted like bottled!
