If it stills smells after all that spray both the backing with Liquid Alive enzyme deodorizer. The enzymes will digest the odor causing bacteria.
Well.....the introduced bacteria with create enzymes which increase digestion of food source in urine which creates the off gassing you smell.

Once food source is digested and moisture gains equilibrium , smell should subside as long as process was done thoroughly

If you are going to let it soak and do submersion wash
then do this

ID fiber and a confirm the area rug can be cleaned, and submerged
check for color crocking/bleeding

Vacuum both sides
dust both sides
Roll the rug loosely
fill trough about half way with cold water
pour in 1 gallon of white vinegar
mix

submerge rolled rug inside and let it soak
make sure rug is soaking

let it soak for 4 hours, drain fluid and repeat

let soak 4 hours

lay out and squeegee it out

rinse out trough

fill it up and pour in 1/2 - 1 gallon of hydrocide original or extreme

let it soak for 8 or more hours.

remove rug and

wash regularly

groom and dry.

charge a minimum of 8.50 per sq ft

thank me later

Acid rinse breaks up the urine salts and lowers the pH of the ammonia to point where the nose cannot smell it. Best to fully wash or claw as best as possible. Acid also prevents color migration, think dye block. To top off the rug after this process, use Black Label & Unchained as a prespray to clean. The rug will really come clean and smell nice.

Did anyone ask if this is a "tufted rug"?

I didn’t ask but he’s already pit washed it once so I figured it was safe to pit wash again.

That’s a good question though. Could be the latex that’s stinking.

Yep that latex is a rug washers nemesis. I’m testing chemistry that will permeate the latex and kill the urine

Unchained is in route to be delivered as I type this out I'm excited to try it. I was using Unduzit for my urine treatments so it will be fun to compare. I'm also looking into some bio pro 10k to give me a good 1-2 punch on residential with urine. What pre clean do you recommend for the rug pit?

If yer soaking rugs, a good makeshift rug pit can be made with pvc fittings and vapor barrier.

I like pvc cuz you can change lengths of PVC to suit size of rugs so as to optimize size of pit which maximizes process
Exactly what I just threw together in my shop, I need a more efficient way to extract the water because I don't have a floor drain... For now I am using my TM with a cage filter over the end of the hose.....also I found some drainage PVC at the hardware store with holes predrilled and made my own rug sucker! Works slick

Even 2x4's would work but pvc is like LEGO logs.
Easy to assemble.

I keep 90's and couplings

I just change the size of pit according to rug size.

I keep a roll of vapor barrier.
Cut to size and just toss after use.

I was contemplating ordering pond liner for reusable but honestly it seems easier to just toss the stuff after, especially if you have to try to fold it and store it
