guys,,,, of course we have talked about this many time before... I do 4 areas and a hall for $100 but they are small homes and yes its open areas only... I do prevac and prespray and take my time... but when you are cleaning a small home and open areas only it takes about an hour and that is somewhat taking your time... now its about being very effeciant no doubt... but yes... so to me its a good deal on both ends you can get you home cleaned for $100 and I can get it done in about an hour or a little over... or a little under...

I don't have any problem with that! My basic package would get them at about that price, depending on the size of the rooms. I gently explain that some of the spots may not come out without agitation and extra spotting care, and that they should vacuum ahead of me. If their carpet isn't dirty, I'll recommend the basic package.

The only thing that matters to me is $/hr. If I'm giving the customer what they want, I'm good with it.

I don't know where you guys get the idea that the 99 dollar special is anything different than their regular service. It does and always will include furniture moving that's always been something SS has offered above some of its competition. Perhaps some franchises might not offer furniture moving but its policy for any corporate branches.

As far as prevac and prespray SS has never and never will do prespray and prevacing. Nothing new there. The general pitch the techs are to use when questioned about vacing and prespraying is that its not neccessary with SS revolutionary cleaning solution and super powerful truckmount vacuum line...blah blah blah.

I've done hundreds of 99 dollar jobs when I worked there. We weren't instructed to treat the job any differently than a 500 dollar job.

I think some of you guys refuse to believe that a large franchise like that is actually concerned with quality as well as profits. If your call back or redo rate exceeded 2% at any of the branches or franchises I worked with you were pulled off a truck and demoted to helper for a month. Also despite popular belief they did preach dry stroking. As a matter of fact with staffs exceeding 30 plus tech you have to preach quality because you know its going to suffer with commission based pays and that many techs.

We got a lot of companies doing a 99 dollar thing here in town. We offer 3 rooms and hall for 99. Its a good way to get your foot in the door.

Its the add ons with stanley, they charge about 15 dollars a room for misting .15 cent deodorizer.. they are the mc donalds of the carpet cleaning industry. Very easy to surpass their quality. For starters vacuum every carpet, show the customer what you got out and then explain that the fine dust will turn to mud deep in the carpet and the hairs will tend to stick to the carpet when wet. Mrs customer this is one reason your carpets don't stay clean is because the fine soil could work its way back up if not properly vacuumed before wet extraction. Bang, you just knocked stanley out of that house forever if you say it convincingly.

By Vacuuming? are you serious?

Have you seen the vacuums suburban homeowners use, they are better then most carpet cleaners and more expensive. The prespray ok but not vacuum and moving furniture is optional. Charging $100 hour to vacuum doesnt seem like a good deal to a consumer.

Not saying there is anything wrong with it. Just saying that around here it doesn't typically include a prevac or prespray. I'm thinking of a similar "no furniture moved" special this spring. However, I do prevac and prespray.

What exactly is wrong with 2 area and hall for $99?

no furniture moving, if you cant make money on that you need to go to business school not another part of the country.Your costs are all out of whack

They are running it on TV here.

I do 1 room cleanings all day long that that run $80.00 by their self. Just depends how large the room is.

The average living room in my area runs about 228 sq. feet or 12 X 19. If I move all the furniture and clean wall to wall its running the customer $82.08. Then say you add a 120 sq. foot room or a 10 X 12 area. That adds another $43.20. Then your average hall is 15 X 3 or 45 sq. feet. Another $16.20 added to the bill for a total of $141.48. That is if I move all furniture. If they want traffic areas only it could be $99.00 possibly.

I'd like to point out again that SS's 99 dollar special does include furniture moving. I can't speak for all franchises but the one here does and every corporate branch includes the furniture moving. Prevac and prespray have never been a part of SS's work....at any dollar amount or any level.

The special is consistent will all of their work. Its not a stripped down version.

Here is my take. 99 for 2 rooms is not bad for an "introductory" price. Especially when you have the opportunity to up sell and offer diverse services. If you are really great then you will have a "life time customer" that you can charge your normal rates.

peace

I never said there was anything wrong with the special. Just I personally didnt think ss would have to do that. Chemdry never has and Serv Pro never has either. I do agree about the get the foot in the door. I too have a $99 whole house special upto 1300 s.f. I win on alot of houses because an average home in 1300 s.f. and then subtract 20% and there you have actual carpet coverage based on the 20% being their belongings occupying space and cant be moved.

This is an ad running right now. Im the 8th one down. this tiny ad works awesome. Poeple looking for a house to rent run across it and they call every single time because their curious. They messed up this ad though was supposed to have more description in it but today was the first time I saw it online. ehh it was only $65 and made 20 times that at least.

99 special

I agree with kenny, different markets and competition causes prices to vary. A new person just starting out might be lower(to get established and gain clientle) than the guy who is established and has a cs base. Rob makes a good point, the $99 special as an introductory price(new cs's only). Next time around more $$$$$$$ spotman
