So can you did it solo or is it a 2 man job?
2 man job, I've tried cleaning air ducts alone and won't try again.
I think Grant does them alone
Yes I do. Average sized house takes 3 hrs minimum. My 10 inch duct hose is in 25 ft lengths and accordions down to 7 ft for easy one man carry. For 18 yrs I had a helper for both carpet and duct cleaning. Miss an extra set of hands sometimes but get the jobs done. A busy month for me is 40-45 jobs but run well over a $400 job average .
Personally I find duct cleaning easier than carpets ( less physical).
Went solo almost two years ago .... less headache's and clearing more money in the year.
Turning 51 this year... another 4 yrs to go and pull the plug!
I have talked with you a few times on the phone I believe?
You have alot of crawl spaces or suspended systems I recall?
Up my way nice cleaner friendly homes... 8-10 ft full basements.
Not a challenge to get duct hose set up . Very rarely will I do a crawl space and if I do charge an extra 50% more than home with full basements.
Been duct cleaning since 2000. Went solo almost two years ago.
Do you ever did attics ?
We have older homes with attics but if there is any ductwork it would be one or two supply vents. Hook up and main ducting would still be in basement.
what do you mean pulll the plug, retire ?
From cleaning yes that is the plan. I will be 55 in 4 yrs and started in this industry at age 19 in 1986.
35 plus yrs will be enough . I have two other revenue streams that I got into over ten years ago that I will still keep going.
As far as cleaning... stick a fork in my ass , turn me over I will be done.
We run 1 man crews unless the house is huge and I will send a helper. We are mostly crawl space area so 2 guys is helpfull Whalen crawling and cleaning truck lines.
Mostly crawl spaces .... wow , I hate crawlspaces . Most of ours are 4ft but sand , maybe pea gravel and polyed. Getting spoiled with my old age .... like my full basements with 8-10 ft ceilings.
Entrance into crawl space is usually a small hatch 18 inches by 24 inches perhaps a tad bigger. Sucks getting 10 inch vac hose etc through that
