I'm just looking for a little advice on the home maintenance cleaning using a Kent C4 portable. I understand a proper cleaning should be done by professionals with a truck-mounted set up, but I do a lot of maintenance carpet washing due to having 4 kids and two dogs. My machine is a former home Depot rental that I picked up for a hundred bucks off of Facebook marketplace. It is missing the upholstery attachment and the pump was jammed. I am fairly handy, so I was able to tear it down, clean out the insides and put it back together with the pump working.

Based on the advice in this video, I experimented with some procyon Plus powder

Not being rude...
That’s the best and only advice you/ a DIYer will ever get on this forum.
No professional will ever give you advice to do your own carpets at home.

Ring a mechanic and ask for instructions on how to properly maintain your car yourself and do oil changes etc at home - you just won’t get any help.

We learned by reasearch( more that you have done by just finding this forum ans posting “can you tell me?”)
By investing thousands in equip and training so we know how to do things properly.
We certainly aren’t going to help you - by giving away this info
You have to both earn and pay for it
WE DID

you need to put down lots of heat/hot water onto the carpet, and extract at least 90% of the liquid(water+prespray) to get a decent result. Good chemistry (black label prespray), strong vacuum and plenty of hot water, you cant change the laws of physics and thermodynamics. Ideally you should still hire a professional, whose equipment likely has 5-20 times the power (kW) of the non-professional ones.
