I still use the wand on high end rugs. Not every rug needs a pit wash. I’ve cleaned them at 400 psi and below. Didn’t realize it was frowned upon. I will say that you must groom the rug after wanding but that goes for anytime you clean one.

The wand is just another tool in the box. Some rugs need a pit wash and others don’t. I still use a wand on some rugs, especially Walmart and Home Depot rugs.

If it's soaked in urine = pit wash. If it was in a flooded basement = pit wash.

Other than that - just clean the damn rug in the home. $60 to clean in the home vs $300 in a pit wash. Watch how quickly customers will agree to your pricing.

We only do in home and have for years. $1.20/sqft. If they call around any rug shop here is $3-6

Rugs are by far the easiest upsell for us

I still do onsite. I agree not all rugs can be cleaned on site. fiber, color and contamination type will decide the direction to go. On site is at $1.50 sqft-4.50. offsite is $4.50-9.75 repairs are extra

Do you guys ever wand the padding side of the rug? I Started offering touches pickup and drop off of rugs and while the rug itself is clean when I deliver it back the padding could have stains and it leaves a bad impression.

Yes!, I also offer under pad washing/ cleaning

Thats done at $1.50-2 p sqft

What I always do is rug the rug and place a disposable plastic liner, then roll the rug back into place and clean the rug.

Doing this prevents wicking and odors from pad
if pad cleaned then I First hit it with unchained, black label and rinse. leave hanging or elsewhere to dry

Depends on the backing......if it’s a regular latex action back nope. It can delaminate and you will cause degrade it. It will dry rot out faster than it does over time already. Woven no problem. Cotton back with latex be careful also. Water causes the latex that holds it to release causing it to delaminate.
