Hello all! I'm new to the forums and in need of some professional advice. My portable setup just doesn't seem to be cutting it. I have a few side jobs that come in for carpet cleaning (mainly apt buildings). Here is my setup:

Rotovac Ranger Dual 2 stage 250psi
Rotovac 360i rotary with a 25' vac hose.

Spent a lot thinking this would work. Me being an idiot and not doing research and now I'm in this situation. Is there a way for me to convert this 250 to a 500 to have some decent power? Im currently using bio-break and using hot water from the faucet to add into my portable. I've tried different sprays as well, but the machine just seems too weak. Any advice would be great. Thank you all in advance!

Typically apartments are more trashed than other carpets. Your setup sounds reliable and capable. I would try some other sprays and also make sure that youre doing a thorough pre-vacuum as well as some type of carpet agitation with a brush, crb, something like that. Also what is the dwell time you're giving your spray? If you let it dry as well it can lose effectiveness. I believe you can also get a brush head for the 360i but don't quote me on that one.

I would vacuum first using a basic Hoover backpack vacuum, pre-spray which I leave on for about 10-15 min, use my 360i w/ brush head to agitate with no water, then I'll use the 360 with water and then vacuum it up. In the other forums I was told to use a rinsing agent which I havent been doing. I was recommended Ultrapak and Dry slurry so hopefully those will work better.

For more power get a booster, Mytee 7303LX. You will now have truck mount power. For more heat get the Mytee 480-120 for Truck Mount heat. Also use 2" vacuum hose. This might cost you another $2500 or so but now you will have Truck Mount power. For cheaper, you can try a brush head for the 360 or a Electrolux shampooer. You can get the Electrolux on Ebay for less than $200 used.

with all do respect, what do you mean "seems too weak"?
are you thinking that the machine is weak? rotovac? or chemistry?
why do you feel adding more PSI would help?

I personally do not encourage higher PSI on electric portables unless you can extract very well.
hows your vacuum?

Have you kept the nozzles on the rotovac clean? you should have a pick to clear any clogs, are you using a screen or high flow filter ? that can clog up the machine and starve the machine of water. Have you kept maintenance up? de scaled?

I was thinking the machine itself was too weak. I'll take my time, but the results are just not good. Dark stains are still visible and I just can't get them out. I've done a few buildings now and they have all had mediocre outcomes. I always clean the Ranger and the 360 after every use. Ranger I will rinse and remove the filter and clean it out. The 360 I will hose the bottom and get out as much stuff as I can and I clear any clogs. I didn't know of any other maintenance I needed to do. I've only used this setup about 7 times so far.
