When you had your etm did you run a generator to power it up?

I am not defending etm over tm. I have mentioned it before on my other posts that if I were to live in the States I would get a big ass TM lol. The place I am in is not the best market for it trust me. The gas prices are higher then yours also to own a brand new TM as 370 is 35k plus van. There's no used TM in the market. There was one about 6 months ago for 5k, this guy bought it and it broke on the 3rd day. In this case I have to make my etm as close as to a TM and I believe I did by adding retractable power cords that saves me a big hassle. I think to be good at it you need to add positive things and take away the negative things, also experience running etms helps as well. Lots of guys can't run etms because they are not patient, lack of experience and not intending to take the negativity and add positivity for improvements.

ya gas prices would be a factor, we run on all propane @ 2.19/ gallon and burn 1.5 gallons per hour TM is running for machine and #4 LG.

I used a generator at times, mostly no generator.

We used 10 gauge extension cords, 2 reels each had 50ft.. little giant heater, 70gal waste tank with pump out. Booster when needed

Small to medium jobs no real problem, its the big houses 180+ft runs with a large work order where it starts to really suffer.. and those tickets are where the money is

nothing worse than being there so long the husband is coming home and dinner is being made, kids are walking in the door.. your still trying finish, starts to become a burden for the customer imo

traffic for us also is a big factor.. we cant set up camp at the customers house and spend the night, being efficient and getting on to the next job is crucial.

4 room jobs carpet only we are down to about 45min-1hr, thats vac, spray, scrub, extract, fans, get paid.

I don’t get it, why at 180ft are you physically able to work faster? Doesn’t the tools determine how fast one can go? A wand can only be moved so fast, a rotory tool only spins so fast. One wet pass two dry passes are three passes with a ETM or TM.

I don't have any issues matching those times I hope you can be done with 4 bedrooms in 45 /1 hour In-N-Out paid

Keep in mind I've been doing this for 20 flip in years.

there is no time difference cleaning other than finding to outlets between our Butler and our EMT set up
The major difference is we don't have live hose reels yet for the EMT set up

1 hour for 4 rooms is ideal but less then 1 hour is rushing the work, doesn't matter how powerful the suction is. there was one incident, 3 rooms a hallway and a stair case that i started to clean, i finished one room and someone came inside the empty house and he told me that he is a carpet cleaner that will clean the identical house next door, he had a tm and wanted to see my etm suction, he was impressed and couldn't see the difference comparing to his tm. he still didn't start setting up and i was finished with 1 room. by the time i was finishing the stair case he left, but he also left an angry customer behind, the neighbor came to me and saw my work and compared it to his rushed work, she scheduled a cleaning with me. this is the reason i can never rush, even i had a tm i would still finish it the same time as with my etm.

Michael;

Were you referring to your Cross-American Power Booster (6.6) "in-line" (or down line ?)
[/QUOTE
I’m weird, I like to use my booster at 140 ft or greater. NOT because I have to. I find I’m not paying attention to my hoses as much as I should keeping them straight (or atleast not all coiled up) So it gives me a bit of extra vacuum so I can keep moving.
No matter what I will say hose placement seems to be key for suction. The better I manage keeping my hoses none coiled the jags able to keep up no matter what.

How long does it take you to set up your tm? For me 7-8 min I am ready to spray. Don't you think that's great?
I think there's being super fast then there's just using your time well. I run everything modular so the first thing I'll be doing after preinspecting the job is hook up the garden hose and fire up the little giant then i'll bring the solution line/hydroforce to the door and leave it there while I prevac so as soon as thats done I'll be ready to prespray the first couple of rooms and while I leave it to dwell.

I use that time to get the portable to the door, plugged in, hose strung out so I'm ready to clean. pre spray the next couple of rooms so they can dwell or crb if needed and then rip into it. now if someone was not gunna prevac or prespray then my system wont be very efficient.

Your 7-8 minutes is all good in my book!

Nah 45 min 4 rooms no hall no stairs 2 guys, ez. Thats pre vac, crb, extraction, fans. Thats also working time not chatting with customer after, giving bids on more services, etc which we do every job when they are present.

You gotta be personable with your customers so theyll remember you, dont underestimate the importance of that small talk.

No worries, sometimes alone and sometimes not.. really doesn’t matter which I guess.. at the end of the day I prefer dwell time before extraction so I don’t feel like I’m losing much doing things in that order
