Buying 3000 dye classes w/out taking a 300 online class 1st see if it's right for you
Recleaning dark spot that ends up being a shadow
Not offering diverse services
Getting neck and face tats

Dumping personal problems on clients
Expecting wood stains to come out
Talking politics, sex and religion w/clients
Refusing a 100.00 tip
Buying 10's of 1000's dollars in equipment and thinking the phone will automatically ring.
When bottom spray bottle, pull dip tube out, turn upside down to get last drops

Not using corner guards
Dirty equipment/van
Overspraying customers furniture/hard floors
Over promising
Using products on things they are not intended
Setting products or tools on customers counters or tables
Leaving active vac hose laying unattended where pets or kids can get to them.
Banging your wand into baseboards
Not paying attention to whats behind u
And finally falling up or down stairs thats embarrasing.

Failure ask client to put away dog.
Failure get wrong insurance
Overbooking (underestimating your stamina for the day)
Not giving yourself a day off at least once a week....
Leaving things behind
Not putting everything back the right way for the next job
Not billing for successful spot removal
Thinking everything is cleanable
Speaking and about competition
Laying hot solution lines on grass
Believing hyped up internet/Youtube salesmen who push unnecessary tools and chems for green/friends.
How about spending 4-5k on rotary and wand tools before you buy your machine and finding out you dont need any of the tools

Never fall for the, "Give me a huge discount and I will get you a whole bunch of business!"
Not going paperless
Opening/cleaning closets without permission.
Driving off road with a focus on the job & price tag and no consideration as to how you're gonna get out of there.
NOT SHOWERED body odor and bad breath
Beware low check numbers.
Don't believe all the high numbers claimed on internet.
Not replacing your solution hoses soon enough.
Advertising in the phone book
Advertising on the radio

Giving up!

Funny, I just checked my e-mail after reading this and the first one to come up was from Home Advisor trying to get me to sign up. I take it that you're giving them a big ole thumbs down right? I know nothing about them.

If you are in a small town with little or no competitors its a go. If anywhere else, run.

Buying to many presprays. Keep it simple. RSF with RSF alkaline rinse and Groutmaster. You now have the chemistry to clean your million dollar homes carpet, tile and grout or knock out some kick ass before and afters pics on section 8's with RSF spiked with GM!

Is this in contrast to the folks who say "you're overthinking"? I've had a few folks tell me that for sure. Are you saying a certain kind of thinking is a good thing?

Putting too much prespray down, esp on polyester and olefin carpets. Being non-non-adsorbant it moves quickly to bottom fiber. It doesn't get a chance to do its job emulsifying, suspending and does not get rinsed well enough. As it drys it wicks.

Committing to a price over the phone then getting to the job and realizing the customer low balled the extent/size of the job. Just give a round a bout price based on what they tell you that could Chang based based on actual conditions

Not understanding carpet fiber types.

Assuming because hydrosensor doesn't detect moisture in a urine stain that there is no "urine".

Not using agitation with pre-spray

Too high of PSI on carpet

Not understanding how encapsulators work
