Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and hope you could assist me with some of your professional expertise. We recently purchased a brand new area rug, which was made with 70% Wool & 30% Viscose. The edge of the rug got dirty during shipment, so we ignorantly performed some DIY cleaning by spraying water to the rug in order to remove the stain. Unfortunately this has turned into a terrible yellowing / browning issue (pictures attached).
We will never buy a viscose rug again, but would like to salvage this one if we can, and try to remove the stain. We’ve done a lot of internet research, and have discovered that using water on viscose was very likely the cause. But the best solution to try to remedy is really unclear. We’ve learned that applying citric acid or a de-browning / tannin stain remover, with spray bottle, and then dry the area 10-15mins later with cold air (repeating the process if needed) might hopefully improve/correct this problem. We haven't purchased any products yet and have no confidence that this is reversible. So any advice or suggestions in terms of cleaning method or best products to try would be extremely helpful for us. Thank you for stopping by!
