Hello All,
This is my first post here. I come to the forum from time to time to see if there is anything interesting to learn. Most of the time, I see a bunch of simple minded fools talking crap back and forth so I tend to not stay too long. However, I had been keeping an eye on the thread about Pink's Carpet Cleaning in Riverside California and the owner doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. So I wanted to set the record straight, once and for all. Troy Meacham is a genius marketing guy and most of you are fools. Let me explain before you start jumping down my throat too, which I'm sure is going to happen, but I really don't care.
I work for/with Troy. I have known the guy for 13 years. I trained him from the time he was 18 till he was about 20. He is a devout Christian, he would give you the shirt off his back, he's an awesome father, an amazing friend, and I hear his wife has no complaints. His parents have been in the carpet cleaning industry for 30 years so he grew up in the business. He's NOWHERE near an idiot or a fool. As a young 20 year old kid, working for his parents, he was making $1500 a week on average @ 20% commission. How many of YOU actually bring home that much after a week, while owning your own business? I know there are many that do make a lot more than that, but this is for those that don't. He works very long hours, yet always finds time for friends and family. Troy has helped me out on a lot more than one occasion, so as a personal friend of the guy, we are more like brothers, I take personal offense to a lot of the things that were said about Troy so this is for all you turds that judge before you even know anything about the situation. Fools you are. While he is cleaning homes that are valued at $400k - $10m, you are plugging away, buying your Google ads and trying not to get out bid or have your ads clicked by your competitors, only to clean $15k mobile homes for $100 a pop. Get it? You are fools.
The truth about the Ice Bucket Challenge.:
I don't care whether you believe this or not, but the truth is, nah, nevermind. I will let you turds keep speculating, accusing, talking crap, spouting lies, and acting like brainwashed tools. Here's a few helpful tips if you want to be like Troy:
Brand your business properly. Joe's Carpet Cleaning is just not gonna get you into a whole lot of high end homes. Names like Stanley Steemer, Chem Dry, and even Rob Allen's Dry and Clean all have great branding. Get it?
Next, humble yourselves and instead of being envious, maybe use your noggins for a little while and come up with an original idea yourselves. You can't come up with the ideas to market your business so you get jealous when you see someone that does have a great idea and because you are too blind to see between the lines, (are you really professional carpet cleaners?) you make assumptions and then you look like fools. So study, learn, and put it to work. Marketing is more important than advertising. Learn how to market, then, find the best place to spend your advertising dollars.
Lastly, if you "educate" your customers, (and yourselves) you will not have to "upsell". You guys try and try and try to upsell this and that and there is no need. Stop. You are giving all carpet cleaners a bad name. People hate salesmen. How much do like to go shopping for a new car? Yeah, same here. The shopping is fun but the salesmen are pushy shitheads. Stop, stop, stop!
The above is all valuable advice and I advise you to take it seriously and to heart. When you talk, all you are doing is repeating something you already know or have been told. When you stop to take the time and listen, you start to learn. So shut up, listen, learn, and put your new found intelligence to good work on your marketing campaigns.
In closing, I'd like to say thanks to those of you who didn't bash Troy. I'd also like to say to those that DID bash Troy, how about next time, instead of jumping to conclusions and making stupid assumptions, you go out to your car, pull your portable out of the trunk, plug it in, cram the vac hose up your sphincter and let it extract all the crap because you have shit for brains. Troy is a much bigger man than most of you. He reads TMF stuff too. He never responds to your stupid comments, he only sits back and laughs as his business is thriving while you turds spend all your time on here, gossiping like school girls. Well, have at it b*tches.
Peace.
