Hey I am trying to diagnose a parasitic draw on my truckmount. The battery on the truck kept going dead so I tested each fuse in the fusebox with a multimeter and wasn't getting any draw. when I went down near the battery there was a single red wire coming off the postive battery terminal with an inline 40amp fuse. It had about a 1.8-2.5 amp draw. We pulled that fuse and our truck hasn't been dead ever since. The problem is I still can't figure out what is causing the draw. any insight or thoughts would be appreciated.

The only thing that really comes to mind is your ignition switch is not turning off like it should and might need replaced. I would put that fuse back in and switch it on and off several times and check for the draw problem a few times. If you can't figure it out you might need to get a service from one of the truck mount service providers. On occasion I've taken my machine into a small engine shop and they figured things out so quick I was amazed. Some guys are just gifted with things like this and if you know a good small engine guy he could probably diagnose the problem literally in a matter of minutes. I don't know what kind of truck mount you have or even if it has an air cooled engine. Ignition switches are cheap and if it's an older machine I'm pretty sure it at least could be the problem. If your machine has a manual with a trouble shooting guide that is always the very first thing I look at and see if anything is in there about a specific problem and there often is. A 40 amp inline fuse would likely be a master fuse to the machine btw.

Thanks for your reply Randy. The unit is a direct drive unit in a Isuzu box truck. I just rewired the switch for the blower/pump because some of the spade terminal connectors looked burnt out/corroded but it seems I'm still getting a draw. The wiring is a little chaotic and definitely needs some cable management. I'm sure there is a short somewhere guess I'll keep following the wires.

You might want to state the actual unit. There may be someone on here who has dealt with that problem and they may never get involved unless they know it's a unit they've owned. I know if it were me I'd be on the phone right now setting up an appointment for service ASAP.
