i know this question has alot of variables but i would still like some feedback. We were called out to give a bid on a restaurant that is been redone and is needing cleaned. 2600 sq ft of carpet (half upstairs half down), 170 chairs in a pile, and 10 booths. We told them 850 for all. Is that a fair pricing? we have done and few of these and some people about freak when they hear prices. thanks for any input in advance guys!

Yeah this to me would be my bid and yes its pretty cheap..

2600 x .10 = $260 (and thats cheap only because it could be a regular job and its a lot of work in same place)
170 x 3 = $510
10 x $15 =$150
total $920...

and i would agree that this also is cheap..but its nice to not have to travail around, save me gas... and wear on van...

I would have bid that at around $1100 during the later years of my business. But when I was getting started and hungry, I would have been glad to get it for your price.

I think I could clean that in one long day with a helper. Take off actual out of pocket expenses for gas, labor, helper, you should end up with $400 to $500 cash for a days work.

carpet .24 X 2600 = 624
chairs 170 X 3 bucks = 510
booths 10 X 13 bucks = 130
total = 1264.
You will have to sell the value that you are giving them, if they are price shopping its a toss up but they get what they pay for. Usually. So to answer your question I think you underbid it, but I guess you have to look at your overhead. To you it might be good but the next person it might not.

That is when I ask "why didn't you call Stanley Steamer again?" and usually get the reply that they did a crap job. I tell the customers I am not the cheapest in the business, and I will do the job right. Then they have to pick between cheap crap or a job well done. Most of the time they will pay my price, if not that's fine too. I may lower my price 10% to get a job, but there is no way I would match $250 or even $375.
