Hey my good cleaners,
Figured I was long overdue to stop by and thank you guys for the help when getting my business started this time last year. One year in, fully booked, feeling good and making good money. Old buddy of mine who also worked with me back in the day works with me now part time, and we're out here getting after it and selling. Titan 575 has needed a little maintenance and a few minor repairs here and there but is running over 200 degrees when I need it and hums like a bird.
The whole process of customer acquisition was interesting. I took the advice of a forum member and 'hit the streets' at first, stopped at every flooring store I could find and pitched them to take my business card. Being fresh out of retail flooring with management experience this went well, nobody refused it. Got a few customers from there. Landed on a few local mom's Facebook groups and that's when the phone finally started ringing. For the first few months went some days here and there with nothing on the schedule, but never had a week without work. I just focused on trying to do the best job I could with every job I had. More customers and word of mouth got me more customers and things kept growing. By the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2021 it hit it's stride and I've been booked out significantly ever since. I get a lot of organic Google search calls now that reviews have built up.
All I can say is I feel the healthiest I've been physically, have let go of all the corporate bullshit stress from my old job, and have gotten used to being in control of my own schedule and life. Man, was that a weird adjustment at first for some reason! I still trip out when I get up in the morning and put on my work shirt with my name and my own company's name on it. Now I'm working to figure out how to navigate getting another truck and taking the next step. Will be in touch!
Just wanted to share my thoughts here because I figured you folks would appreciate it.
Kind regards, - Bret
