Ive been in the carpet/upholstery cleaning business since 1981 so Ive seen a few downturns in the economy. What I have noticed during and after those times is that the amount of work did not decrease! In fact there was a slight uptick in gross sales. Why was that? Because people that were going to buy new carpet/flooring decided to give the carpet "one more cleaning" before replacing. It was the carpet/flooring sales firms that suffered most.

Just something to think about...

Maybe others can share their past experiences

I made out just fine when the economy crashed in 2008. My income went down some in 2014-2015 but the last 3 years I've been setting monthly records. If the media would quit scaring people to death people might start calling again but I have a feeling it's going to be awhile before many people want workers in their homes. The media is going to keep on pounding fear into people up until the election no doubt. Hopefully by December we will be running wide open again. Best of luck to ya!

sorry, Im not waiting til December. All calls coming in and ones that were scheduled before we made the decision to close are booking in May. At this rate, by the end of April I will have May booked solid.

Carpet cleaning is pretty recession proof. I was in landscape construction pre 2008 and trust me it's much much harder to land 20-50k+ installs when nobody wants to spend.

Getting someone to pay $300-900 or whatever to keep their house clean is a lot easier.

This is the time to stop by pawn shops and watch for deals on Van's. Those positioned right will make out like bandits. I'm buying another pre experienced van asap when the smoke clears.

Yep just picked up two on Tuesday. Coulda waited longer but both were good deals and about a total of $4k less then askin

Both were also single owner vehicles

Leather in the dodge is in great shape. So my current truck is now turned into a service truck also

I like the term "pre experienced"!

That's all I've ever had and really no complaints about that.
