So this morning I get ready for work and get in my van. I disconnect my battery every night because something kills it and I can't figure it out. So I prop the hood flip the battery on and start the van. It fires up and then there's a boom and I see plastic flying through the air and fire under the hood. I jump out grab the house and run to the van. My hose is to short (that's what she said) so I'm spraying it from ten feet away. I call my neighbor and he comes running over. I tell him to pull extra hose because I thought I was hung on something. He grabs the hose and snatches and it rips right out of the house. So then I run to the other side and grab my other hose and finally put it out. It's been an eventful day. My next two days will be swamped from the reschedules for thanksgiving. I had seven jobs today so now I have a lot to do. If y'all could have seen me running around trying to put the fire out you would have died laughing.

The good thing is that nobody was hurt and hopefully it will repaired quickly so you can get back to work. Any idea what caused it?

I'm ready for this year to end. Between this, a sick kid for 4 days, trying to get my other van prepped for a new machine holiday planning, my brother passing, I just fell like these last couple months have been the toughest in my life. I'm trying to find humor in it but it's very hard.

I saved the van and equipment. The engine is shot. It blew the air intake into fifty pieces. It was so loud my other neighbor jumped out of bed and ran over.

That's why I carry a fire extinguisher in my trailer, in the cab of my truck and in the bed of my truck in the lockbox.

There cheap, you could have put the fire out within seconds instead if running like a chicken with its head cut off

I thought I was having w bad day. I am on a job and was in the back of my vqn getting out my trex when the wind blew my door shut. I found out that the interior door latch doesn't work and I was trapped in the back of my van. A passer by heard me yelling for help and let me out. Errr. I hate that door.

    Haha

I don't know what caused it. I'll sell it for parts once I get my other running.

A few times my assistant has become MIA.....only to find them locked in the back of the truck.....with the TM roaring! You really have to be there to witness the look on their face......how do you describe the look of total relief and complete anxiety together. There are just no words for that expression.

I would hate getting locked in the van. When I was 9 and I'd work with my dad any time he sent me to the van to get something from the front it always scared me. The machine roaring and the belt turning right by the seats.

Sorry to hear about all the crap that has been going on. I hope it all gets better for you very soon! Try and have a great Thanksgiving and don't let the work stress you out. You did make your story funny though.

It was actually the air intake. I guess some back pressure was created. Not sure but it was strong enough to blow the air filter out of the housing and completely shatter the metal inside the mass airflow sensor.

Glad everything worked out ok Brandon. I had a similar situation happen when a battery cable caught fire inside my old box truck. I was at a shopping center Burger King. There was an auto parts store there. I ran inside and grabbed a new fire extinguisher and yelled to everyone I'm not stealing this my trucks on fire. lol the look on their faces was priceless. Needless to say to this day I carry fire extinguishers on all my trucks.
