Well I received the dreaded news today, my 13 years in law enforcement is coming to end due to an injury. It is pretty depressing but I am excited and scared as shit to start my new path in life as a business owner.

I have been doing carpet cleaning part time for years but now it has to be my main source of income. I am making a lot of changes and one of those changes is getting a new truckmount. I have never owned a truckmount or operated one so I am looking forward to FINALLY getting one!

I am going to focus highly on residential but I will also be looking for small commercial jobs. I am going to be expanding my business services from carpet and upholstery, to also include tile & grout, and hard woods floors. I know nothing about truckmounts except what I have been researching the past week. Here are the ones I think will fit my needs and budget, please let me know what you think.
El Diablo, Prochem Legend and Boxxer 423 are at the top of my list. I really want something dependable, easy to operate, and that has great heat.

    Thanks for your help!

Well out of those three TM's above , El Diablo with diesel burner will give ypu the best heat . Reliability... Prochem, Hydramaster or Sapphire Scientific.
I would want a #4 blower . Not sure if your budget is for new but a decent mid size TM for up to 200 ft single tool runs will run you 25k . Your gonna get alot of opinions here.
My 2 cents , buy @SunnyDays Carpet Cleaning Apex and Van very nice setup and all the power you will need in a TM .

Where you at? North Carolina? Maybe someone on here could offer a ride along. I am a few hours away in Virginia.
I started with a porty. You already have the basics.

Not too sure about the the El D HX Robert.
I have a HM Titan 575 and it is a great TM. 2400 hrs and just a few parts replaced thus far.
That Steamaction that Anderson mentioned above would be worth looking at. Very reliable unit and will have loads of power.

I'd recommend any Prochem truckmount. I was an inch away from buying an El Diablo a few months ago but a turn of events led me to an Apex and I couldn't be happier. I feel like I got very lucky and this machine has exceeded my expectations and I feel it looks the most professional of the bunch, and built solid as a rock. Hydramaster machines are good too, I'm just partial to Prochem personally. I wouldn't buy a Sapphire Scientific, but that's just me.

Stay away from garage builds is my advice.

The El D in HE will work just fine especially if you're used to a portable. Not the hottest machine in the list of TMs but a great sturdy design. I looked at them pretty close but ended up with a used machine/van instead.

I just bought a Prochem Peak a couple of months ago. Really liking it.

Another one to look at is http://www.gcssupplies.net/alpha-440/ Pretty much the same as a powerclean freedom.

I like that one also. I had a powerclean victory 47 and it was awesome. Regret getting rid of it. Awesome heat and suction.
