Awesome looking bike Johnny !

I sold my Road King a couple years ago after having a few too many close calls with idiots.I had a friend who was crippled up for 6 months after hitting a deer, a year later his son was killed riding a bike, I said that's enough and sold it, it just wasn't fun anymore, I was a nervous wreak always looking for someone to pull out in front of me, or some animal to run out, or wet leaves, or gravel, honestly I don't miss it much.

As they say there are only two types of bike riders, those who have already crashed, and those who eventually will.

Deer kill bikers all the time. Fortunately for me I'm in So. Cal. so I just got to watch out for the people in cars. You're right about the two kinds of riders, The ones that have been down, and the ones that are gonna go down. I'm hoping I'm okay as I've already been down. :)

I can't agree more...those who have been down and those who will go down.

I was in the left lane running 60 and a car cut me off to make a turn and basically stopped in front of me. With oncoming traffic to my left and a F250 to my right...I only had 2 options. Hit the car or lay the bike down. I thought I might get pinned under the car if u layed it down, so I hit them. I flew over the car and landed on the hood and rolled off.

I tore everything in my left hand and had 2 bones in my wrist relocate. I messed my knee up and was layed up for 4 months. I also had 4 pins put in my wrist to stabilize it. I'm damn lucky to be alive and realize my wreck could of ended me that day.

Question is, do you still ride?

Yup. Once I was mobile again and could walk normal and have full use of my hands, which was a total of 6 months, I walked into a bike shop and left with a faster one than I had before

To this day I still ride, I have a Yamaha R1. Although I don't ride as much as I used to or ride like I used to (80mph wheelies going down the interstate) I still enjoy it very much.

The guy I know who hit the deer and who's son was killed still rides and swears he always will, personally I doubt I will ever ride on the street again. I Thought about getting a Trike some time down the road, but it's just not the same.

Congrats Johnny.

I had one motorcycle accident and still ride 2 bikes. I have a Shadow Cruiser but love dirt bikes. I sold my RM and picked up a DRZ 400 and got it street legal. Drives cops crazy haha. Love love it! I find myself getting it out 3 outta 4 times to ride. Just jump off road anytime I feel like it. :)

I had one of those a few months back.
Throw a nice pair of street tires on your bike and you'll love it more. Then of course you can't take it off the street

You did the right thing. I have friend who raced professionally. He put his bike down at either 140 or 160, can't remember which. But he was fine. Broke some bones once he started rolling.

What kills you is going from say 60 mph to 0 mph instantly. You need to clear the car. don't lay it down cause you're not going to fit under the car. When I was in the hospital, we had a guy who laid his bike down. The rear tire on his bike hit the rear tire of the car. It compressed his spine and left him paralyzed.

I've been done twice due to cars. once I went over and the other time the truck hit me and split. A couple of surgeries and 12 months and I was okay.

(80mph wheelies going down the interstate) I still enjoy it very much.

I use to ride wheelies up to 100 mph. that was as fast as my Honda XL 600 would go. Use to do a little brun out on the front wheel when I put it back down.

Gives a whole new meaning to "popping a wheelie"!

As well as "Fill er up" :)

In 1984 I bought an 82 super glide with low low miles. What year is yours?
Nice bike, I'd love to get another one some day.
