With your knowledge and ability to fabricate the machine, i'm sure it'll be a beast. As for the engine...from the 4 different truckmounts I've owned, and the lawnmowers I've used...I'll never use an air cooled twin cylinder engine again in any of my future truckmounts. They're loud, they rattle, and they're just loud. They sound like crap. The throttle response, and immediate power and smooth sound of an inline 3 or 4 cylinder engine to power our machines is the way to go.

Have you thought about buying a junk PTO van with a smaller blower and weak HE, and using your parts to do a major upgrade? With your welding skills, I bet you could turn an old HM setup into a nice, constant heat, long hose run beast
Oh yeah I've considered doing that exact thing in fact I've considered making this a PTO machine

Always wanted to build a n old VW or Benz diesel TM run it on waste veggie Oil (WVO)!!
Going to do a little bit more research before I commit to diesel I actually don't have a lot of experience with them but I'm willing to give new things a try

With a smaller motor you can just change the pulleys so the blower is not turning very fast. A 22 hp predator pulleyed to run the blower at 1400-1600 rpm should match the horsepower with the load from the blower.
Yep that's what I've done in the past
We had a 33 running on a 8 horse Honda it worked out okay
We put a 22 on a 47 we had to pull it down as well and it works great
The max governed RPMs of the motor that was originally running the blower was only 1800 /2000and that 4-cylinder Ford was both problematic and tremendously overpowered for the task at hand
Manufacturer said you could double wand and we would from time to time but the inches of lift would drop as well so we never bothered
I mean don't get me wrong it was a good machine but often times we would run it at1000/ 1400 RPMs and it would have more than enough power also it was a one-to-one pulley ratio it might as well have been direct drive

The other thing that I dislike was the pressure on the cat 5 pump it has was limited by the RPMs of the motor even though they uphold lead it to the one

Nothing was unloader on the recovery tank was always open even at 1000/1400 RPMs that is part of the reason I want to utilize this blower is it performs very well at just about any RPMs

I know what some popular but I am leaning for the predator just for Simplicity sake also keep in mind this will be our backups Backups backup and will likely only be used when flood season is around we're actually thinking of putting it in a trailer so if we have a truck breakdown we don't stop operation

I would like to thank everyone so much for their suggestions they are greatly appreciated

Where's the picture of junk you see? I see 1 picture of a blower with the gear end cover removed, I've heard that blowers last many years with minimal performance loss, I have been cleaning with truckmounts for over 20 years and never had a problem with any blower. Some people are mechanically inclined and some are not. If he has all the part laying around why not put them to use?
Ok. Have fun building a garage Truckmount.

I'm tempted to try the predator with the 56

The 56 blower is only made to spin at 2800 RPMs Max which means whatever motor I use will have to be pulley down to decrease the RPMs going to the blower. Intern making the motor work less hard
The truckmount this came out of at a 4-cylinder Ford which had 41 horsepower it had absolutely stupid ridiculous power could only run at about half throttle if you turned it up past half the unloader was running the entire time

Also I'm not looking to duplicate that nightmare it was constant work

And keep in mind this is going to be my backups backup it's more something I'm playing around with that I'm I'm making a living with

Jim I really appreciate your comment have a great one

you can run most engines around 2800 rpm.....

thats what I run all mine at......

you can look at a torque curve......especialy Kholers

torque and hp cross at about 2600-2800 rpm

better to get the larger engine for that 56 blower

i like the idea of the 60hp....but thats a lot of $$$ and engineering....
bet the engine weighs 200lbs....
40hp kholer will weigh around 130 lbs.......

but I will say the 40 hp will run the 56 blower....imo
but it will be underpowered to around 80%??????

I have seen a 40 hp with a 56 blower...

I have a industrial 60hp Ford 4 cylinder, obviously liquid cooled running my Roots 56....I don't know about smaller...?? I run some long lengths of house in the country, Lake houses, etc.
You have a power Genesis don't you.
yes I had a power Genesis at one time as well the thing was a Powerhouse until it's through a rod and I sold the whole unit to a buddy

This blower came off of a machine with a V4 Ford 1. 7L propane powered like out of forklift ( yeah nightmares) it was a Canadian manufactured company that quickly went out of business they literally made 10 machines Can Co also it was very old 70s and I do not feel that this blower originally was on that machine we could not find any information on the machine when we tried most places have never heard of them.
Worst of all they limited the power with a governor those Motors can't put out 55/60 horse but it was limited 2 under 40

One of those bad choices

So I'm considering going with this the Ford inline 6 just throwing it out there for thoughts

A few things I know about it is the reliable sin

It would have enough power to run two blowers

Parts are fairly easy to locate

Very very very simple to fix

Some bad points are that it weighs 400 lb o

It'll love to burn gas

take it back mine was a 63 so it was the 170 i think same block though. all those parts interchange
I want I found 170 as well and a 200 those thinking things are every place because they never broke they always ran in the cars they were in just went to rot
The only problem I see is that they're huge
But honestly it could probably run that blower at idle
