I would be little worry about creating flow restriction with addition of inline filter on portable. The way I see it, dirty water entering to any portable is regulated by sleeve( elbow) directing water towards the wall of dump tank. One or more inner filter screens are enough to catch hair, dirt in most effective way. If you work with lot of power 250-280 CFM and good lift, then go for it. 2" in and 2" out would be great also. I do recommend Mytee Lint Hog. I believe Mytee carries filters with a 2" orifice also.Anyone using an inline filter for your portable? We used a devastator filter for our truck mount in California, but since I use portables now, I don't have any inline filter to reduce the amount of crud that gets into the waste tank. Any suggestions?
Yeah the screen filter is a pain to clean. With the paint filters it's easier to empty. I've been meaning to grab a mytee filter. The hydroforce never sealed from day one. I have to put a layer of electric tape around the seam. And I'm careful not to let it roll out of the van. I can picture that thing shattering on the pavement. The Hydroforce filters are not very durable ( I broke every one I had before switching to Mytee Lint Hog filters) and are a pain in the ass to clean. The Mytee Lint Hog is great. I have them in all 4 of my vans and not one of them has broken. Even the stainless filters themselves have not broken and that is amazing. I never owned a Devastator but the Lint Hog is seemingly indestructible. I would definitely recommend one.
You don't want crud getting into the waste tank because once the waste tank filter gets clogged, it stops dumping.
I have not used a knee high filter in a long, long time. The screen filter works just fine. The Mytee Lint Hog is bulletproof. The hydroforce is garbage by comparison.Yeah the screen filter is a pain to clean. With the paint filters it's easier to empty. I've been meaning to grab a mytee filter. Do you use the sock filter piglet filter with or just the metal filter alone?

Agree with you 99%. Still, Greg should be watching his air flow, since he wants to use inline filter on his portable unit of unknown strength. The Hydroforce filters are not very durable ( I broke every one I had before switching to Mytee Lint Hog filters) and are a pain in the ass to clean. If that is the case, he might want to get himself one of those Mytee Airhog boosters. It will provide him another vacuum, plus a built in filter.Agree with you 99%. Still, Greg should be watching his air flow, since he wants to use inline filter on his portable unit of unknown strength.
I just use those lint socks on my ltd5, just swap em after every couple jobs or rinse them and keep using its fast and simple and my pump out keeps runnin
