Nick, pm me and let's have a conversation.

The rate of inflation is 3%, give or take. I don't raise prices every year but every year on January 1. When I go to clean a house I take the measurements and use my new psf rate of the added increase. If you go by room pricing add either 3% to the bill every year or if you want to do this every other year add on at a minimum 6%. In my eight years of owning this company I have had only one client ask why I raised my rates.

I have found my commercial clients don't even bat a eye as 3% to them is nothing. Residential clients can be price sensitive but if any bring up a objection to the price increase you explain your service (all the steps) and how your company provides a professional service but costs of services do rise and as much as you hate to do it, prices will rise ever so slightly. In all honestly, no client unless they are looking at a previous bill will see either a 3% increase or a 6% increase.

PS Let me give you something to reflect on, Nick. By serendipity I just opened this email from an attendee at our Portland seminar in august. He asked for some creative help on marketing (SFS grads get free consulting with Big Billy and me) and then closed with this comment. I'm pasting it in word for word except I added the italics:

"Thanks again for the SFS week - I believe it will be a game changer for me and my family; it already has been! I came back home and raised my carpet cleaning prices 50% and all my other prices 25%... I have hardly had one customer blink, and not one turn me down. One of my most regular customers even gave my tech a speech about how much she loves our company, and gave both of my tech's a $100 tip! This was after we raised her bill from $440 to $650. I also had another customer just tell me yesterday, "I've been foaming at the mouth to tell everyone I know about your services!" That's what I call a customer cheerleader! (even if it was a little unnerving!)"

Truth is, I've lost some clients bcuz of price increase.

Whereas before I had jobs in My part of town when I was at $200...I have considerably less at $400.

I don't lose sleep over it. Even tho i have a good CRM in place...Long as I'm generating higher paying leads at a cost that's profitable I don't get caught up in keeping a super high retention ratio

I'm in this for the money

I also view it as a Marketing challenge. In a city where Stanley S and Zero Rez spend millions, I have to successfully convince --thru Marketing & Sales-- consumers to pay Me (a solo operaror) more than them with all their branding and 2men crews.

I accept the challenge and rise Victorious

Since my laptop is officially dead. ( backed it up on a 1 TB before it died) here is the shortened version of how we're doing it from my phone.

1) Ask for name on phone calls and give them my name. Say nice to meet you. Harder to hang up on a person you have formally met.

2) Have a mini van set up for our new economy package as encap.
3) Working hard our past clients who are a gold mine every month with Service Monster post cards and Rich Cleaner newsletters.


Starting a rug spa coupled with the above and we are breaking the glass ceiling and will
Either double our business or come close! When I get a new pc I will go into more detail.
