I wonder if all the jealousy and negativity will ever end on TM vs Porty, I'm not in any race with anybody, I'm just a small business owner that still loves cleaning carpets, if Joe has a truck mount then thats darn good if Bob has a Portable then thats good two, do you who are threatened by one or the other still enjoy your job? I doubt that it will ever end but I will not ever make another post trying to defend what I do, I don't have to justify myself to no one, I do what I do and love doing it.

wow people care about this ? I have a porty but want a TM for seed when I go full time in CC . I love cleaning carpet and dont care who uses what . I am new at this but just how I feel.

Each person must decide for them selves what works. TM or Portable.
Electric TM/Portable for me. Recoil XPS
It all depends on your marketing stategy and what you are trying to accomplish.

Not everyone will build their businessthe same.
If you have happy customers and satisfied with your income. Be happy with what you are doing.

I do enjoy everyone that expresses what works for them so that I can decide whjat direction I may want to go in the future.

What makes a truck mount better then another truckmount or a porty. I have seen truck mounts that make my butler look like a toy, I just saw one the other day that if the owner turns up the vacuum to much it will collapse a 2 inch hose. The vacuum was as big as a car engine(new design to clean hi rise buildings from the ground) Everything has a plus side and a negitive side so dont defend yourself!

Heck in college I dated for four years a 5'11 blonde model who was as dumb as rocks and could out drink even a german like myself. I married a 5'3 brown haired girl who makes me a better man and far happier! I would never go back! Not everything is crack up to be what people tell you

I use to use a portable. I use to laugh at the guys with a TM.. Because I said to myself.... They are spending money on gas and maintenance. and 20 grand on a machine... I knew I did just as good or better than them... Then I got a TM and it was like night and day! I would never go back to a portable... saying that........... The good cleaner with a portable can do better than a lazy guy with a TM...

Where is the jealousy/negativity? I don't see it here, and I read in the general and portable forums. I don't remember seeing a tm guy bashing portables. Or the other way around for that matter.

I think it's one of those things that's just perceived for whatever reason without actually happening very often. Like a mouse eating cheese. Everybody says it but I've never seen a mouse eat cheese in my life.

This stuff gets burned in our heads until we start to believe it.

I can use my porty and clean just as good with it as I can my Truck Mount. Just that it is a lot slower to do. But, the porty is faster to set up than the truck mount hands down.

Well guys I had a TM and now I use porty's and I do encapping.
It all depends on what you do. I have places you have to be secured
in so porty's are just fine for me.

I have both porty and Tm and aTm sets up way faster than a porty, With in five minutes of arriving I can be deep in cleaning with a TM and with a porty I would still be bringing in the equipment. To say a porty sets up faster hands down is a new one to me.

It is a business planning issue and investment issue
nothing to do with cleaning

Really not fair for me to decide what other people should do with their life

I have a El Diablo and love it.....with that being said I now want a M5 or a Recoil because I finally believe that they clean very good like a tm and have many more benefits. I want one for the jobs that I don't want to deal with the van and that roaring motor inside it.
It will be my next purchase after a rotovac or rx 20.

You know one day I would like to have the rotovac but instead of the rx20 I would like to own the 360i, but after Rob ships that new wand out I may never look back, I hear those wands are very nice

I went from a rug doctor to a mytee 1003DX it was night and day how much faster I could clean a house. Saved up money and bought a used prochem 405 with only 500 hours on it for $8000 it is awsome, I can do three more jobs in day that average $100 per job and honestly I am getting the carpets cleaner faster. I do as least 8 $100 jobs in an 8 hour day now. I would never go back to running a portable but it did get my business of the ground at low investment, I still have zero debt with my business. But I did run the portable for over a year to get started it doesnt make sense to have expensive equipment if you dont have customers. My advice is grow your equipment base as your customer base grows and be the one that buys your equipment cash for half what it is worth from the guy who borrowed money to buy it and had no customers to pay for it and went out of business.
