lol not a good first tile job... if it has a glaze on it which it likely does it needs to be scraped.

pro companies that know how to fully restore this flooring sometimes specialize in it specifically and charge a lot $$ ask @MikeGaure

Man my time is valuable. That will be expensive!!

2 professional tile guys working together that know what they are doing would probably take 2 full day or 40-50 man hours to do a strip and wax job like that saltilo.....

It would probably take you 150+ hours to do it right the first time......
unless you had someone on the job site working with you showing you what to do.....then maybe you could do it in 2-3 days????

you got 3 choices imo:

1. pass on the job
2. do the (anderson) clean the grout only thing

which can still be tricky around the waxed tile!!!!
no buffer...using grout stick .....scrub only the grout lines....
then seal the grout lines!!!!!
3. hire a tile guy to work with you who knows what he is doing
and you take a small cut of the job...as learning experience...

however good experience as i have run into ceramic tile that has been waxed and didnt know it...always ask....

also you will run into more frequently color sealed grout lines...
that is a whole other problem in itself?????

Do not be afraid. Do the job and you'll learn. If it is waxed do not use an aggressive solution in the tile.
I love saltillo jobs. You can charge good money.

What if I find no traces of any wax or sealer on it??
Can I then scrub the whole floor? Then dry it and seal it?

I have done worst ones than that more than a few times,, get your chems right and treat it like a strip and wax only use terra glaze on it.

you definitely want too test an area.

you'll need to really pin down her expectations, the bad part is you have zero experience with this type of floor so you have no way of properly setting the right expectations based off of the condition of the floor.

Lots of times depending on the condition the floor has too be scraped with a razor to really restore it properly.

we've used several different strippers and machines with additional 50lbs of weight.

also depends on the types of sealers or topicals that were used.

and you better be charging good or you'll lose

we start at $3 and have gotten too $5.50/ft before depending on the quantity and condition

30 yrs mop and glow type product, carpet by door we replaced. carpet with black line from mop n glow i stretched and cut out black strip. we had it folded back while working.

just too clean 4 windows 12' off the floor we charged $300 to scrape and clean. carpet R&R, Carpet and area rug cleaning and saltillo restoration cha ching. but there was a boatload of just working on knees

if you want to try this job.....

ask her if you can do 1 closet for minimum charge to test it....

then you can give her a price for the whole job if she is pleased!!!

I dont think shes expecting that kind of money to clean it. She told me she just wants it cleaned. When she calls i will go and look at it.
If it has a coating and shes willing to pay I will strip it with stripper.
However, I'm going to shoot for 5.50 a Sq. Ft.
I CANNOT afford to do it for free.
I need to find out if it's been sealed and or waxed. I have not even asked her yet!

That's just to strip it!! Everything else will be extra. If that's the route she wants to go I will strip 2 tiles and see how long it takes me
