I have 2 high end vacation homes to do that are both berber. They have both asked for steam cleaning and although I think VLM would be a much better candidate, they specifically asked for steam cleaning. I would love to keep these customers as repeats and was thinking of offering a complete deep clean with HWE and offering VLM at a lower price in the future as a follow up. Has anyone tried this approach?

Personally, I don't like the idea of charging less for VLM. I believe clean the carpet with the best method for the situation. Just in my opinion, VLM should not be a discounted service.

That being said; I do see your angle. And anytime you can lock in future cleanings it's a good thing imo.

I guess my suggestion would be to offer a discount for a "maintenance plan" or package. But do so in a way that it doesn't make the customer form an opinion that VLM is a lesser method of cleaning than HWE.

I really like the point about don't me the customer form an opinion that vlm is a lesser method. I'm dealing with that right now. I have some carpet that I encap and that is clean, but management of the place has the view that encap is a lesser method and want hwe because of things they have heard from others. It doesn't need it, but that's what I'm going to do in it now.

Don't let your customers get the wrong impression of encap versus HWE - I describe it as the difference between a brush and a comb.

HWE is the comb - deep and targeted, but doesn't do much for fluffing and correcting the carpet (hair). Encap is the brush - it doesn't dig deep to the scalp, but fluffs and corrects the carpet (hair) so it looks good.

I don't believe you will change their mind! Just give them what they want, you can't compare the two.

The good thing about this business is that we can offer discounts where we seem fit. I would add both cleanings in my price, with a slight discount.Tell them because of the type of carpet they have you recommended a deep cleaning followed up by light encap to correct any returning spots a few days later. Let them know how Berber wicks back and for the best possible cleaning this is what you recommend. Also give them just the steam cleaning price. This way if they done wanna pay the extra if it does wick it's on them. Because you told them what to do
