This thread started out interesting, then it turned into a pre spray thread. How does that happen?
Cause which pre spray guys are using is determining how well they are doing and when they starting doing well. As the Original Poster had asked???

Jeeez brother man. I thought you knew that. Pre Spray and using the right one is the key to riches.

Rolls eyes.

Its pretty funny though.

Before this forum i had never heard of valpak. Just asked my wife if she knows, no clue. Im not sure if anybody uses that around here, how do i find this information. Is it in the newspaper?

Same here. I've been reading a marketing book and it mentions it as another tool in your box for more jobs.

How many zones do you have to choose from? I have 10. It doesn't seem like enough.
10 zones with 10 thousand people in it. So thats 100K unique households. Now add in 2 other print marketing sources that go to those same 100K homes and you will fill 2 trucks routs with 5 jobs per day 5 to 6 days per week during May-Dec.

It is way more than enough homes Robert.

PS I have 32 zones to choose from. 5 are in the hood so are out of the question.

I only have 5 zones to use and use all 5. If there was a bigger population base here with more zones I would get them as well. 5 zones a month with 50k households and #1 ranking on Google keeps me busy with 5 jobs a day 5-6 days a week 2 guys to my van. So it would not surprise me at all that 10 zones a month would keep two vans busy 5-6 days a week.

We are not getting calls everyday, but are getting more and more. We started three years ago as part time. It wasn't only until a year ago we got real serious. We have been growing and becoming more steady We focus on average ticket revenue vs jobs completed. Since we offer so many services we are usually at one location longer. This leads to higher profit levels for us. It is just our business model. The hardest part we have is keeping a carpet tech employed full time as our work does fluctuate.

Here is a look at my Val Pak ad for next month.

Few tweeks left before we finalize it and sent it off to print. We have till Monday at noon.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/sw5963i9ffoi15l/cleanextremev7d.pdf?dl=0

We have ran ads 25 consecutive months now. Adding new zones every few months.

Thanks for sharing Matt. It looks great and I can see how having those sent out to that many potential customers can be effective. I think the only downside is you have to be prepared to handle it :)

Do you guys do anything to drive them to a website for say a free estimate in order to collect their data for future use?

We collect that info when they call to book. Every customer gets a "how to get the most out of your cleaning" Email from us so we collect it then. We have NEVER had anyone tell us no to that.

I am not a big web guy. My website is still the home made one me and my brother did up when starting the bizz 3 years ago. As of now I have driven my companies growth on the back of traditional print ads primarily. Its what I know and it is working very, very good for me. Its expensive, but you get REAL results. Like you said you better be ready with a office manager to answer phones and a couple of good lead techs to field the jobs.

@Gasoline
Notice how we drive our upsells with our ad. We offer 3 different services. Duct cleaning, Dryer vent cleaning and CC. We score 70% upsell rate on dryer vents due to that simple little 49 dollar add on dryer to any work coupon. Its an easy extra 150 dollars per day per van or 750 extra dollars per week just on the dryer vent upsells.

You can see with an ad laid out this way how it is easy to upsell an build a nice job average. Remember the customer is also prompted for upsells in the email they get from us as well. Once the tech gets there it is more of a hey are we gonna do this or what. No selling is really needed.
