Back in the day just about every piece of furniture had a skirt. PITA to clean. Then slowly we saw more and more furniture without skirts and it was like, YEA! Then this last week I cleaned a ton of furniture for a high end client at their storage facility. almost every piece had a skirt. Now Im thinking of charging extra for it.

kinda like an rug. Some have fringes and some dont but you have to have an additional charge to clean the fringe.

Thoughts?

weather its fringe's on an area rug or skirts on a sofa I just take that into consideration when pricing the job

I don't think i'd tell a customer, well its x amount to clean the sofa but since it has a skirt on it I have to charge you x amount extra, same for an area rug with them dam fringes

Basically i charge a little extra but don't say i'm charging extra due to skirt or fringe

My thought is you can't charge the same for all furniture, period. That's just my opinion. Some furniture is significantly harder and more time consuming to clean. I would try and figure what you need to clean it and charge it. I make some variations of price based on whether cushions are fixed or pull out, how many throw pillows I have to clean, type of fabric that may be more difficult and time consuming to deal with, etc. If I were forced to put the same charge on all of them I'd literally quit cleaning furniture this very second. Nothing worse than knowing you should've charged more and didn't.
