So I am just looking for some input, I've run into this a lot lately, what are the benefits of grout coloring? I see people here charge about $.40/sq ft to it... This is something that I do not understand, in my opinion it's just covering up there dirt, you're not actually cleaning the floor for the customer, but there seems to be a lot of people out there that do this grout coloring, is there something I'm missing?

As ACP said, you need to thoroughly clean the grout and often i use an acid cleaner to etch it so the color sealer sticks really well.
Done properly it will last years.
I charge $1.75 - $2.00 per sq ft.

The base price includes all cleaning.
Always pay careful attention when doing the estimate.
Most times I go straight to acid with a steamer and wire brush head.
Occasionally the crud needs to be removed by alkaline and spinner, so I increase my price accordingly.

You need to clean it really well, also acid wash it to open the pores of the sanded grout, but don’t forget to neutralize it as well, than add the color to the grout line, it’s a really tedious work and you must charge accordingly.
