Does anyone have experience with being featured Carpet cleaner at Google Local Services. I'm in southern California and a Google representative contacted me several days ago with offer to join the program. Lead costs $17, similar to Home Advisor. My concern is how many calls would actually convert to jobs?

I copied this.....

"Google will never, ever call you out of the blue. It is possible to schedule calls with Google regarding Google My Business and AdWords issues. However, business owners have to initiate these phone calls by going through Google’s online support system, providing their phone number and email address, and requesting the call. And the turnaround is usually very short, only a few minutes. If you get a real, legitimate phone call from Google, you’re going to be expecting it."
Ask the caller to send you an email.

If the caller is a Google representative, the email they send will have "@google.com" as the "From" address and "Return-Path." If you're contacted by a third party, check to see if they are a Google Partner.

I’m also in so cal. I get endless calls from people claiming they are with google. If they contacted you it’s probably not actually google. I would contact google through the google my business app. Then you at least know you are talking to google and not some ripoff marketing company claiming to be google.

If you receive any call by name google so don't trust on this because this is fake. Google cannot charge any money to register your business. You can list your business for free of cost.

Agree to be cautious. ive had too many scammers call or come by in the past years. However, it does look like Google is expanding into this market with their ads. i'd review the following link to make sure its the same thing but it appears so.

We got a call from google rep too... however, we did apply to be a “google guaranteed” company. From what I recall, this too was a sliding ‘per lead’ cost.
BE AWARE-I asked my marketing guy and he too said “google wouldn’t just call some company like that, I don’t think. He would have had to fill something out, or apply to the service”
We did not end up using that per lead service, we are focusing on bring people directly to OUR website and not everyone else’s.
We have a pricing form, contact us, and appointment request deal that works great on our site and we never lack inbound calls.

From what I can recall from my brief convo with the rep from Google Home Services...
It's $23 per lead. I think she said that the $23 is for jobs you complete and it gets taken out of your check prior to Google paying you out for jobs.
They create a new Google listing for you as well as an in house Google web site. These things replace your current Google business listing from Maps and Google My Business pages.
They guaranteed to cover up to like $2k in customer reimbursements due to unhappy customers or some such.
You would go at the top of the search results pages, above all listings including those marked as "ad".
Background and record check required, plus some other business stuff I don't recall.

I asked if it was so great, why hadn't anyone in my market taken them up on the concept. She said one company had and there were waiting to see if he cleared the background check and such. SO far I havben't seen anything Google listings changes for my market.

Really just another big company getting into the jobs lead business. Some will think it's the cat's meow, others not so much.

I've had someone contact me about a similar service from "Google". The guy tried really hard to reassure me that he is, in fact, with Google.

Google is probably one of the very few lead generating services that I'd be happy to pay for. Provided that it is in fact Google.

I say triple check. Call a Google support specialist first. Ask about the service directly from one of them.

Even if you're 100% sure it's legit, it never hurts to be 110% sure.

(Or you could ask on the Google business support forum and get a response from a verfied employee)

me too this started from a email from Google & I called the rep. back
I wouldn't trust an email either, I have gotten a bunch of emails claiming to be from Square about issues with a transaction for an amount that I know we never ran. It is just a scam to try to get your Square information with all all your account stuff.
Copy and paste the email they sent you and I'm sure someone that has dealt with Google ads can tell you if it is legit or not.

I think this is a scam. I suggest you to just ignore those calls next time. I have just read some reports filed at http://www.whycall.me/408-582-7978.html about similar scams. Hope this helps.

no scam I'm on there it just launched in my area you become a google guaranteed buisness it cost like 16 dollars per lead ....its a google lead service program instead of pay per click like adwords so you pay by job instead of per click
