Came in to work today and one of the guys had a gas can leak all over the carpet and leather head rest . Of course the head rest is ruined and bleached out . Asked if I knew anything about removing what's left and the odor . BTW, it's nasty and he has to put his small children in this vehicle . Any advice ??

Yes. I ran across the same problem. I agree with JT. I had to clean the area over 10 times

Gasoline can pool underneath the carpet and the insulation matting. I would remove the carpet and discard at least a section of the insulation matting if it was saturated with gasoline.

Absorb any liquid gas. Clean the floorboard / frame. Replace insulation. Clean carpet from both sides. You may want to flush it with pressure washer. Let the carpet and car air out separately. Then reinstall the carpet.

I would keep use of deodorizers to a minimum. They can mix with the gas odor and just make a different unwanted odor.

If you decide the spill is not bad enough to remove carpet and insulation, clean thoroughly. Air out.

Then try Vaportek 3X Industrial. Keep air circulating by use of the air or heat. 20 to 30 minutes of the Vaportek cartridge in use. Then 20 to 30 minutes of airing out. Repeat two or three times as necessary.

Vaportek Cartridge Neutral. This is good for 240 to 270 hours of use. IT will do many car (or home) deodorizations. Keep it sealed up when not in use.

I cleaned up some gas for a friends car and accidentally lifted the dump handle and dumped it on my grass. Not good. Had to patch it with some sod

Many thanks to all !! He cleaned the carpet once he got home and did a good job .
Still smelling gas today and really the first opportunity to keep the Windows open since the rain has been 24-7 here . Flushed with water today and used the S.O.S. Tool .
Used some deodorizer and fans to dry . The head rest is ruined and still smells .
Told him to keep the windows open but most likely he's going to have to replace that part .
    Thanks again everyone !!

Thanks Jeff . The issue with the head rest is its leather and was completely bleached and ruined in a very large spot . I entertained the thought of using a carpet needle /syringe and injecting a deodorizer from the fabric underside in to the foam and just let the leather alone ........ Maybe just use some leather cleaner on it . Decided it would be best for him to find another head rest from a salvage yard because his children are in this vehicle a lot .
