OK, I need a cram course on what to put on the garage floor of a new house. the cement will be about 4-5 months old if that matters, and it will be in Florida.

The homebuilder says the epoxy floor is $3.50 Sq. Ft. I don't know the process, but it has that confetti stuff on the tops.
Since the garage is about 32 x 26 feet, the estimate is more than $2800 !!!

I don't have a budget for that. If I do this myself, is this a multiple-layer coating?
How long does it take to dry, and does it really stink? I don't want to breathe that stuff for a week.
Also, my wife has asthma and couldn't handle the fumes?

I don't know what I'm talking about....if you can't

I did a 28x30 garage.
Washed it down, then acid etched it. (pretty easy process with a truckmount)
Poured on the epoxy. Squeegeed it, then back rolled it.
I don't remember any odor issues but just have her stay clear of the garage until it cures.
My cost for the epoxy alone was $1k. Don't believe the coverage rates.
I did not do the flake additive.

I did a similar process, but I didn't squeegee the epoxy. I poured it in an area then took a paint roller and rolled it on. I used painters tape and wrapped the roller to get all the loose fiber off before using it on the epoxy. I did this twice. I used the flake additive, the trick is to work in sections. And prep work is EVERYTHING.
