I noticed my van that one of my employees drives everyday has two new dings in the drivers door today. It looks like he parked to close to something and opened the door then hit the door. I was wandering what everyone’s policy is on something like this. Thanks in advance Kyle

Have you asked him about the dings? If so what was his response?
Seems to me that you just need to talk to him and explain how important it is to avoid things like that and to treat it like he is driving his own car. But also keep in mind that accidents do happen and it easily could of been from someone else banging into the door and not necessarily him that caused it.

Maybe he's right. I drive my own van and everyday i find a new dent. There placement looks like other car doors opening into me. By their height and the shape. I mostly back into spaces so the dings reflect that.

I drive my own van and I know where every dent is from. I am very carefull with my stuff. My new van is 10 months old with no dents. My last van was twelve years old with one ding that I did. So he has more dents in one year than I did in twelve. If there is no punishment for damaging my property it will keep on happening. Again the dents are on the drivers door like it has been opened hard and hit something.

1 dent in 12 years...I call Big BS
If so you have never parked your vehicle in a parking lot ................ever

You are being over the top....sorry.
If you expect no dents in 12 years from employees go ahead and fire them all now and go back to owner operator.

That is just the facts.
Its NOT their stuff.
They will NEVER take care of it like you.

Thats just the reality of having employees.

I did not say I expect zero dents in twelve years did I. All I am saying is I have had many people work for me over the last 18 years. Some of those people have dented my vans and have had more accidents then other employees. I am talking about accidents that were there fault. I just was asking other multi truck owners what they do about it. As for you calling bs on my van having one dent in twelve years. It only had 90 thousand miles when I sold it. I always park away from other cars also. I only worked it for about 6 months out of the year. I would like to here from Someone else that has something more helpful to say.

dont let Spazznout get to you. I take care of my stuff too.

I remember when we had a new TM install and the install tech put a dent in the side door. I almost blew a gasket. But that was back in the day....

Do like anything else. Document it, talk to him and see what happens. Usually if its an employee that isnt good for you, there are other tell tale signs that will get your attention.

I only run one vehicle and I try to be careful but it gets dents and dings. I'm not even sure where a lot of them come from. Once or twice a year I'll pop out the dents and paint the scratches and chips in the paint (that's mostly from rocks kicking up on the road) and make it look pretty. See it as part of doing business.
