No paid advertisement here. Just a appreciation for hard working, honest companies with ethics. As a few know I recently bought a Jaguar 8.4 here on TMF. I try to avoid calling a company when I didn’t buy the item directly. But with an invite directly from Ed V, I found some time to call today.
First, I don’t want to argue. Everyone indeed has a right to form opinions about products, companies and even one another. I just want to state my observation from a small business owner.
The amount of time Ed spent today on the phone clearly shows the guy cares about end users. He clearly knows I didn’t buy it direct from him. Yet he took the time today to chat for several hours with me, even long after “Office hours” We talked about many aspects of business and such and not just about the 8.4
I’m not saying in anyway I’m somehow the standard for all to follow. But reading as much as I have here and elsewhere I will say there’s some serious BS being posted about this guy personally and misinformation on his machines.
First if you google Cross American Jaguar products, 98% of everything I read from actual users speaks highly of them. It’s unbeleiveable the amount of posts, and videos all raving about the extraordinary performance people are getting from their Cross Americas products.
All over the world it appears most everyone agrees on one thing the guys machines work, and for those who have spoken with him all say he’s a class act.
At the end of the day, I’ll allow those with higher IQs then me fight about the tiny details of things in the industry that matter to them. But as a end user I don’t care much about anything except does the product fulfill my need, and does the product do as advertised.
In both ways the JAGUAR 8.4 Gets a A+ rating.
I’ve read total bull about keeping hose lengths under this or that. As someone who doesn’t claim to be a expert armchair engineer alls I can say is the 98% positive info about Ed Vs products are verifiable and true. I’ve only only used 30-100ft of vac hose so far. I have no fancy gauges, no expert knowledge, but being logical and intelligent enough to get through most challenges these hose lengths make not even the slightest dent in suction. IF I went to 150’ and there was a impact of performance I’d still be performing a zillion times better then the industry standard (2) 5.7 motors. It’s night and day. I have NO question I could go 200ft without a booster and still be pleased as advertised and video verified by real users. I see no evidence of hype as to the real world performance vs what’s advertised. Simply put as a man of average intelligence I don’t care how you get to the conclusion of what’s required “specs” for carpet cleaning on a paper, the end of the story to me is, if the carpets are getting cleaned correctly, and dry times are all in the expectation of the client of what concern is there how you got that point. I can care less about #s on papers, who’s got the biggest hose, if the product does the job and the owner of the products satisfied few other things matter. Different TM makers, different ETM makers, different porties will all yield different results. So choosing a product carefully is important.
Then it’s up to the operator to perform correctly.
It bothers me reading total BS from people who do have a lot of knowledge use that knowledge in a way to benefit some in a certain direction for selfish gain, or deter some from a course for selfish gain. It’s easy to convince some that a opinion is correct when the statements to come from those with enough genuine knowledge to sound as if they are an authority. It bothers myself that some form massive opinions that may affect newer ones including me to buy or not buy a product by forming strong personal opinions not based on actual use but a personal agenda.
As long as there’s people and products we all will form thoughts about them. I get that. That’s what makes life interesting to me is seeing varying opinions based on genuine experience. But simply forming opinions based on others thoughts or ideas seems like a drone to me. March down your street with a few friends with your fists in the air, chanting “hell no” and soon others will follow, even when they have no clue that your protesting.
I guess I’ve always been one to think on my own. Sometimes it’s been a negative, but mostly a positive. Why post something like the Jaguar 8.4 can’t work past 75ft of hose when you never used or tried the machine. It could deter others from buying based on false statements.
I’m not saying my Jaguar 8.4 is a design from the gods. I can already see years of thought went into it, it’s a monster cleaner, works great, and hasn’t given me a lick of issue that wasn’t my fault. Like cleaning out the waste tank, ahh it’s easy! Some here make it sound hard! Put some water in it, and open the side valve. Why is that hard? I’m again not the smartest but took me no time to figure out how to drain it and clean it easily.
I’ve read doesn’t go up steps well or make a good porty? Compared to what? It is a ETM designed to truck mount or be a porty, not dedicated to either. So is it as easy to drag up steps as some no, but is it easier then others heck yea. My last porty is so short and heavy, it’s brutal to drag up steps. My Jaguar 8.4 is much easier. Is it as easy as my first porty, no. But it’s performace kicks it’s butt and just because it’s not as easy the performance by far blows away that one thing.
Is the machine perfect? Well I don’t think anything man creates is perfect. There’s always room for improvement. But today I spoke for hours to the guy that owns the company! It was a interchange not a monologue. Ed’s got 40 plus years of skin in this game, and maybe what a armchair engineer things is a flaw may have 4 decades of reason that it ended up how it is. Again perfect, well I’m not one to say anything’s perfect. But I appreciate talking to a guy dedicated to this personally verses calling some big company that can care less who I am, and I’m just a profit margin to them. Cross American is of a breed that American companies used to be much more commonly. Those businesses are slowly going away, the ones that still care about its customers, and products I feel should be supported over large companies that your just a account # to them.
I’ve read endless posts from Ed V. The guy gets his feathers in a slight ruffle when a few endlessly try to provoke him. Feathers in a ruffle when others would go ballistic. The guys been around nearly 50 years in this industry I find it amazing he’s got the temporment he does after all these years. Clearly by talking to him, he’s passionate about this industry and isn’t the big business type to hang up when your not buying only caring about products.
Why bother dedicating time to anything negative about this company and try spending some time pointing out how many positives there are. And if Jaguar machines aren’t your cup of tea, everyone gets that. We all have a right to choose to spend money where and how we want. But geez guys when a company owners spends hours on the phone, tries to sell you nothing, and infact convinces you the chances of needing to buy repair parts for the product is slim to none, that guys ethical.
I’ve read about how he comes to a board to sell products. Ah again I may not be a ultra bright bulb but if you make a product you dedicated your life, know works well, to not try to sell it to a group of people who maybe interested in your product sounds stupid to me. None of us volunteer everyday and never get compensated. We work to eat.
Anyway anyone wanting a ETM and reading these posts on TMF and such before you decide call and talk to Cross American. Talk to the company that makes the product that your interested in. Reading posts can be helpful posts help me a ton. But don’t be a drone thinking only thoughts other are telling you that you must have. Think for yourself. If you buy another brand so be it. Buy what suits your needs best. But deciding simply based on “smart sounding” info that’s really illogical makes little sense.
The End :)

Today I used my RDM at 300-700 psi on a job using my Jag 8.4. Had zero issues. The Jag being able to go over 500psi blew away wheel chair and walker marks throughout the home with ease. Used Bio Pro, and Bonnet PROs new Rocket. No rinse, came out beautiful. Can’t wait to hook up my chemical injection and Mytee Heater. I’m thinking of leaving one mytee Heater in the truck and getting another for inside just in case it’s needed.
I’m finding the Jaguar 8.4 to be getting fantastic results. So nice to have options I didn’t have before. This weekend I’m hooking up my 10000 watt generator, and I have a Mytee Turbo Heater on the way. My client asked me to keep her front door closed since she has a cat. I told her no problem my ETM can come in! Problem was I didn’t latch the door and the cat ran out anyway!

Workhorse isn’t the word for it. Yesturday I had to use it at the doorstep since the outside water was shut off. With setup and breakdown I was able to do 4 rooms in no time, including chatting with the client. My normal porty I would of doubled my time.
It helped me a lot I did buy a cheap 3ft ramp, and the new generator I opted to plug into. The client was amazed I was done so fast and the carpets looked great. I had to return a few hrs later because I forgot my schedule book on her counter. She was still happy and carpets were dry :)

Today we’re off to San Diego for Scott’s Rug Class so gotta go :)

Some people would accuse to us you just drinking the Kool-Aid
But the fact is when something works it just works and when it makes you money and your customers are happy that's all that matters. I'd be willing to say that cross American the highest customer loyalty and Ed Valentine is without question one of the industry's greatest innovators. Speaks without b.s. tells you like it is even admits his an old machine may have a flaw here and there. And says you have to make compromises.
An industry full arrogant manufacturers is great to haveThe Humble manufacturer that is willing to work with us guys out in the slop. Welcome To the Jags family.

Totally agree. The machine works so well that I can’t fathom any negatives I told Ed, “perfect” no, I’ve never used a perfect anything. But about every negative I have ever read was bull from either not actual users, or just hating. A few minor suggestions ok I can get that, but the machine works so well I see no reason for negatively.
All that makes sense as there’s tons positives all over the web and here on TMF.
Why wouldn’t people see to be able to remove the machine is a massive positive if beyond me. We all live in different areas, and do all sorts of different work. I get that. But since I owned the machine I’ve had two requests to not keep the door open. No prob, pulled out the machine and I get to work. It’s a bummer because I wanted to use it staying in the truck and haven’t gotten the chance but I will.
Right now we just got to San Diego excited for rug class tomorrow! Hope to see a TMF member. Atleast I know one, Scott will be there lol
