I am moving more into residential cleaning this year and want to offer cleaning packages for the clients to choose from just like I hear many cleaners on TMF have. I am having trouble deciding what to offer that will be fair to the custy and also not screw myself by doing too much for too little $$. I do commercial work so I am not familiar with the different add-ons clients tend to go after the most. I am stocked up on Protector and will push that on every job, but that's all I really know.

This is what I have so far (Rough Draft):
Economy (basic cleaning):
Pre-spray, Spot treatment, HWE

Premium:
Same as above, moving of some furniture, deodorizer

Deluxe:
Same as above, carpet protector

Pet Packages:
N/A

****All my services get vacuumed if needed****

Thanks in advance guys...CLEANERS ON THREE...ONE...TWO...THREE!!!! CLEAN bit CLEAN!!!

I began 6 months ago myself offering package pricing. I switched from .36 cents a sq ft to charging by area. I switched to a area pricing to cut down on estimates and the general headache of explaining sq ft pricing. I offer 3 packages, you can read about them here http://downingnelson.com/ourservices/

Unfortunately I need to make adjustments to this page on my website but you get get the basic drift.

If you would like to see my updated service list with prices, which I would like to keep private email me at [email protected]

I like your 3 tier service and have a few questions for you.
Which service do your customers go for the most?
When moving furniture, do you move dressers and beds too?
Is your spill warranty the protector or you are talking about wicking issues?

Branston, I have a 'one size fits all' cleaning process. I prevaccuum, pretreat/scrub, rotary, speed dry, traffic lane paper on every job. It works out very well for me because I can charge premium price on EVERY job , not just some. Of course urine treatment and protection are more. IMO, you don't have to dilute the quality just to make sure that more people can afford a less than top flight cleaning. I'm completely okay with the thought that not everyone can afford my service. I don't market or cater to EVERYONE , nor could I cover the amount of work that doing so would lend itself to. I'm just one guy (low supply) and that helps the demand for my service.

Mike, I like that idea but I am moving in residential from from doing nothing but commercial and its difficult for me to charge premium to everyone until I feel confident that I can tackle any task. I want more experience so I can charge high and shorten the daily job list to just a couple. I charge $35 a room for basic cleaning and $45 for the next service and $55 if they want protector. I don't do apartments and my minimum is two rooms. I want to build my skill level so I can have the confidence to clean anywhere and anything. Hope I am not selling myself short:(

Do you apply it as a pre-spray or after you clean just like protector?

I like your 3 tier service and have a few questions for you.
Which service do your customers go for the most?
When moving furniture, do you move dressers and beds too?
Is your spill warranty the protector or you are talking about wicking issues?

The thing is when a customer calls for an estimate i say this. "Mrs Jones we have 3 cleaning packages but I am going to quote you the standard which 95% purchase" I only have 3 packages because the few apartments I do I didnt want to loose that work so I came up with an economy package, and a few customers want the top end service so thats why I have a premium. But most still go with my standard package.

I do not more dressers or beds. I move 4 pieces per room unless we are talking dining room chairs which are lite and they I wave that rule.

My spill warranty covers anything, wicking or new spills. The customer can "triple" their warranty by buying scotchgard. Its a good way to upsell scotchgard which i am horrible at selling.

Curious about this traffic lane paper Mike. What do you use ? Is it like a brown butcher wrap ?
Would this not cause a vapour barrier and not allow carpet to dry even with the minuet about of moisture left ?
Again curious , I like the concept!

I use white butcher paper. I use it as prep for hardwood/tile areas that we have to cross and for thorough fairs of carpet that we've cleaned. As prep, it displays a genuine concern for their flooring. (Don't like crawling around picking up drips with my rag). As a final touch, it allows the client to get around without feeling trapped in their home while final drying is occurring. I've been doing this for years and its a real 'aha' moment for customers. I also like to use large landing towels in transition areas. I have a short video that shows a typical setup. Youtube 47prosteam.

Very nice , and professional.
Attention to detail. Loads of hardwood in my area. I will
Incorporate this immediately. I've put towels down and keep a swiffer with a hardwood cleaner on truck and clean up afterwards.
PS
I was going to say that it looked like you had some threads or strings hanging from your sleeves.... then I realized those were your arms!

Taking your time, cleaning thoroughly and being super careful inside a clients home isn't rocket surgery, it just takes more time. The tricky part is making sure that your client recognizes your effort. The reason I hate per room pricing is because your high end clients end up getting the worst service. Let me explain. You charge $55 per room and then you go into someone's home that is huge. This client wants and expects you to take special care of their flooring. This client WILL recognize your effort or lack thereof. Well he's got a 450' Master, a 650' playroom, 500' LR.....etc. Now you're cleaning for 10-15 cents per foot. You're in a position to HAVE to rush and this is the last client in the world that you can afford to rush with. Bottom line, you will NEVER be able to cultivate this kind of client because they are ultimately getting a subpar service in relation to the guy who has a 100' br. This is why square foot pricing has completely changed the way I service a client. Someone will say , "but I charge $100 per room". Congratulations but the guy in a small house is paying nearly $1 per foot and the mansion home is still 20 cents per foot. Sorry about the long read but I thought a proper explanation was warranted.

BTW.. Nice Video on Protecting Hardwood..Awesome Floor!
That particular job was a 'key left, call with amount'. She paused long and hard after I told her the amount (before I started of course). Husband came home when we were breaking down and I showed him around. He was thoroughly impressed with the job and our professionalism. Often times a new client will be a little put off by the price but nearly every time , once they see the effort I go through , they completely get it and couldn't be happier with their decision to use me.
