I have held out as long as I could with my new van I bought last year (used, new to me). There are so many things wrong with it the last time I took it to the mechanic they quoted me $1200 to fix everything, this after I have replaced almost every part under the hood over the last year. I had hoped to baby it along until I could buy another van but no such luck.

Well last night while driving home I had the brakes completely quit working on me. Scary feeling. I was coming up to a stop sign, the last stop sign before I get on the highway to go home and when I pressed on the brakes the pedal went all the way to the floor and there was absolutely zero brakes. Luckily I was only going about 25 mph and the road was in an area that was undeveloped so I just turned and drove into the dirt and got the van stopped. I checked under the hood and sure enough, no brake fluid. I walked over to the store down the road and got some brake fluid, dumped it in and it drained right out the front brake line.

I decided since the next 50 miles was all open road on a highway just to carefully drive home. I made it, using the transmission to engine brake I was able to go slow enough and time it so I hit all the lights green (I think I may have had a little help from above on that too). Finally puled into my driveway which is 100 feet long moving at about 2 mph I hoped the van would come to a stop on the gravel driveway as slow as I was moving but I ended up having to shove it into park while moving to stop the van.

Anyway, I'm done with it. I'm pulling the truckmount out today and putting everything back into my old faithful 21 year old van with 300,000 miles on it. I will have to get a new van in a few months.
