Hello!

Major Newbie looking for your help PLEASE.

Can anyone please advise on whether or not there is such a thing as an All Fabric Area Rug Shampoo of some sort? Meaning, is there like a go-to basic shampoo/detergent to wash majority of rugs that are non-fancy?

I see there are specialized formulas for Oriental Rug and Wool, silk... how about for others rug types?

ALL FEEDBACK IS IMMENSELY APPRECIATED.

Thank you so much in advance for reviewing post and taking time out of your day to respond. :)

This is the most universal product I've ever found. It can be used stand alone in higher concentrations for hand dry shampooing upholstery, safe for cleaning area rugs of all types, boosted for synthetics or used as a great soap at the kitchen sink. It's very concentrated and a little goes a long way. I use it almost exclusively for everything and add adjuncts as needed.

ONE cleaning solution for ALL rugs?
NO!
And if I dont mind saying so, you pretty much answered your own question. Wool, silk, cotton and especially those that are hand woven will require more knowledge than someone just starting out cleaning olefin rugs from Room To Go. Add to the mix old vegetable dyed rugs and new Sisal and well....Get educated and you too will become a master at rug cleaning. Just know it takes time. Going to a two day class will not make you a master. It's a starting point. You grow from there. Hope I helped a little.

Oh....let me add that in some cases technique plays a more important role than the cleaning solution you're using.

Love it! It's my cleaning base and then I add other ingredients based on what I am cleaning. I only use a handful of ingredients in various concentrations for most everyday cleaning, less is more.

Interesting. I'll give it a shot.
I too only use a handful of products. Been that way for years. I once fell into the YOU NEED THIS TOO trap.
Ahhh...No ya don't.

Generally, I am not too fond of shampoos on rugs as they are average cleaners and they take too long to rinse out, especially in pit wash situations. If you are not rinsing then a good encapsulant will do better than you think. If you are rinsing, our Wool Perfect pre-spray is excellent for rugs.

Depends on the shampoo. Back in my old days working for Rainbow International we had two shampoos. A "wet" shampoo which was a difficult shampoo to rinse out and a "dry" shampoo. Basically these were the early, pioneer days of encapsulation cleaning. Anyway, if you were to wait a day after using both shampoos, pour a little water on both, the wet shampoo would still foam up. But not the dry shampoo. Same as today's encap cleaning solutions. Interesting stuff, eh?

Have you tried Rug Smack? It is brand new all in 1 product that cleans Natural & Synthetic fibers by rug washing or as a rinse or as a prespray - it is universal and nothing else out there like this. = https://shop.truckmountforums.com/products/rug-smack-cleaner-natural-synthetic-fibers

I will give it a try. Can I also mix it inside the solution tank of a portable for rinse?
