Never dealt with this type of carpet before. It feels just like velvet. AND they put it in the Vet department on campus. It acts just like velvet in regards to pet hair. They have dogs on it daily. Along with meetings and events. The color was dulled out because of a year of bonneting. I HWE it, with a pre spray that I used boost all and citrus solv as a booster to bring back the color. Which it did.
But one week later after meetings and dogs it has the same issues. I would like to see the carpets stay cleaner longer. I know I can't control spills.
Does anyone know about this velvet carpet I could use advice.

It is hard to know a lot about carpet from just a photo. Fiber samples help ID the fiber and more.

I would suggest testing somewhere in a corner to see how well it repels water, vegetable oil and if they are present in the area, color drinks like Gatorade and such. A protector to defend against the weaknesses may be a good starting point.

A tool that grooms up the fibers such as a Brush Pro can also be helpful to get more soil out than vacuuming alone. More soil out, carpet stays cleaner longer and lasts longer.

Marlene I have done this exact carpet before,, treat it like a big large rug,, Next time prespray and take a couple of red pads to scrub it with and it will grab the pet hair your vac and rake wont grab. then extract .

We picked up a vacuum that was made for picking up hair and it did a really good job. So much so we keep 3 in our rug shop.

On upholstery and stairs with alot of pet fur I use a 4 gal Rigid shop vac with a Pet Powerhead attachment. Works great. On CGD or residential wall to wall its the Royal or Windsor. Every now and then Ill bust out the beast on matted or furry jobs. The Certified Pile Brush/Lifter.

    Jeff & Marlene ,
The vacuum as far as I know was the Bissel Power Glide Pet Bagless Upright Vacuum and the model number is 1646 . Sells on Amazon for $149 and is red in color .
If you have a Best Buy around they have it on close out for $141.

I would make sure that it is rinsed out well. Some cleaners are great at prespraying a carpet with great presprays and then running a rinse detergent thru the machine but how much detergent is already in the carpet? Sometimes adding more pre spray to the carpet is just adding more problems to getting the soap or detergent out of the carpet. I would use Procyon as a pre spray and then rinse well with soft water.
