What is your name, company name and area you service?
Courtney Lee - Truman Steemers - Gwinnett GA
What inspired you to become a business owner in the cleaning trade and how long have you been in business?
While working for other companies, I saw first hand how they mistreated their customers. So i always told myself if I ever started a business, I would want to offer high quality service and better quality work. I personally have been in business for 15 years.
What cleaning services do you provide and do you plan on offering any other diverse services in the future?
Currently: Carpet cleaning, tile & grout cleaning, upholstery cleaning hardwood floor services and pet odor treatment.
In the future I plan on offering granite counter top cleaning and sealing
What are some roadblocks you have ran into and how did you overcome the obstacles?
Starting out I would service cheap customers with low prices, I was trying to duplicate other companies not really that is a business model I don't need to follow (like an owner operator). The biggest obstacle was revamping my business approach to get more higher quality customers.
As you know its black history month and international black business month is coming in a couple months, what are some of the biggest barriers black and brown communities must overcome when launching their own businesses and what advice do you have for them?
By taking the opportunity when you can and how to overcome that for me - is to carry yourself better than a traditional professional.
If you could start over all over again today, what would you do differently?
Understand that every customer isn’t always looking for the cheapest price, I would change my mentality from day one.
Thank you, if there is anything else you'd like to say or give shout outs - feel free to!
Shout out to Rob Allen & Mark Siager for being true leaders of my success - without these two guys I wouldn’t be here today with the forums and videos over the years.
