Anyone pay their guys strictly percentage based off their job revenue? I'd love to hear how you like it. I'm considering moving away from hourly wage. Too many guys milling about the shop not getting stuff done! Lol

when we were a large company, we paid by the hour. When we started with Mack Clark, he wanted us to start paying commission. Our top tech gave me the hardest time. so I told her (yes HER) that for two weeks I would continue to pay the hourly rate. But also showed her what the commission rate was so she could compare it to what she was making hourly. After a week she was begging me to switch over to commission.

What percentage where you at at that time? Was it strictly commission? Thanks

yes, strictly commission. Its been about 20 years since we had employees but to the best of my recollection at that time it was
40% of work that was booked
50% of any additional work (add on cleaning/protector,etc)

We never trained much on upsell because it was built in to our invoice. We had a custom invoice which showed rooms, room dimensions, square footage. Then at the bottom we had lines for
Cleaning $ x
Deodorization $ x
Protector $ x
and two blank lines that we could fill in for things like odor removal, etc

then asked which services they wanted. That in essence was our upsell.

Most of the add on sales were just requested by our customers. *while your here, can you clean.....*

I don't have any employees, but I have a few helpers( for commercial jobs); for that, I pay a commission - 20%. They're both seasoned cleaners ( 10-15 years of experience ) and very thorough. Commission pay usually transpires to $50-$80 an hour. On most jobs, I move the hoses only and make sure water is flowing. They won't let me swing the wand.
