So I did a VLM job on some old beat up CGD in a really old slummy apartment building with no elevators. This carpet is not even worthy of being in the DMV. It was full of tears, bleach spots, and burn holes. The fibers were flattened in the traffic areas. The walls of the building were not much better. Anyway, the CGD carpet started buckling! How? With VLM? I just pre-sprayed and used a CRB.

Very little moisture in some cases can cause it to expand. Sometimes even just high humidity.
Probably nothing left of the glue. Ive swept up mounds of glue and latex powder after pulling carpets like that.

The agitation might have been worse than the moisture if the adhesive was already going out. Good thing you didn't HWE, it's probably held in place with grease at this point!

Pgcleaner it's probably already back to normal if this happened yesterday. Same thing happened to me and it laid back down when it dried. I wouldn't worry about it.

The temperature and humidity difference top to bottom caused the primary backing to buckle (90% of the time it's on a cold winter concrete slab cgd on a low humidity day, 10% on a frigid crawlspace over pad with the same conditions). Here in the southeast it's strictly a winter time phenomenon. The rest of the year the difference isn't enough for anything to swell and hucklebuck on ya. It always goes back to normal... ancient action bac carpet is talking to you lol
