Very strange, carpet is a cut pile loop pile blend. The kind is straight lines of each. The carpet was very crushed and dirty right in front of where a couch was sitting. Hit it with prespray and it turned light pink. Not like a spill as in circular or splatter in shape but the pink is only on the top millimeter of carpet fibers and is ONLY on cut pile yarns, not the loop pile....Doesn't rinse out, doesn't transfer to towel. Reducing didn't touch it. Only noticed in that heavy crushed area not where else in the house. I'll attach a pic but it's hard to make out. Any ideas? My prespray I was using was Saigers Code Red,coincidence that it's got a pink color? I have never had an issue with it before and the rest of the carpet didn't turn pink.

I seen 409 cleaner do this . The painter's would clean the shower doors in the front room of empty units and over and over it showed up . I asked the building owner and he told me , BINGO the cause was found . It could be anything in your case but I found out in my case .

Hard to tell. Does it appear different in areas that were once under furniture? If so it can be UV or could be off gassing. Older carpet generations dyes were not as stable.

I have also seen one particular carpet change color from just getting wet. Had light tinted streaks. It went away as it dried. Thought it was my pre spray. But it did it with plain water also.

This might sound crazy but this might also be your answer.
I had a situation where very similar to you.

Turned out that the installer used a red permanent marker on the backing, I dont know why.
I also have had this happen on upholstery.

If that is the case then the pre spray that you used might have softened the red ink and it wicked?

Last theory is this.
some how a fire retardant was applied and we all know how retardant react and what color they change...pink

It was literally only between the couch and coffee table. I've decided it was probably a cleaner they were using on the coffee table and it oversprayed.
