While I was at my last job today the neighbor came over and asked if I could fix a hole in their carpet. I said “absolutely” and told them I’d be over in an hour.

I get in there and it’s an easy fix but the dog had dug up the padding too and I didn’t have any extra padding on me. Had I left it with no padding it would have shown so I got a bit creative.

I cut a piece of carpet and put it where the padding was missing then I put the patch in over that carpet. It looked good when I was done and you couldn’t tell where I had used the carpet in place of padding.

Might not be the ideal situation but it worked.

Ive done that before. It works. But its better to flip your piece upside down. It stays flat better. But next time if you're in this situation. Peel a corner in a closet and rip a chunk from there. Theyll never notice it missing being they cant ever step in there.

Good idea. I’ll keep that in mind. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that.

Don't forget to secure the pad or scrap carpet to the sub floor.
