There is a Park on Fuller SE Grand Rapids Michigan, its named.... Martin Luther King Park.
Back in 1982 or 1983
A Sunday afternoon, me and a friend go to play a round of golf.
As I drive, there is a very small hill in front of me as I head south, from Franklin Street on Fuller.
Driving the speed limit, I can not see the two cars parked in the traffic lane. When I see the cars blocking the road, I slow down, and have to go all the way on the other side of road to pass. I think these guys are kind of stupid, who ever they are. I said nothing to my passenger as the music played.
As I come to the next cross road, I stop at the stop sign. As I start to go again, this car speeds past me and locks up the brakes. 30 to 35 foot skid mark. A full sized Cadillac. it is side ways in the road. I kind of freak out, scared and punch the gas peddle. I have a dark green, 4 speed, Camaro, 1976 I think. I only had it a few weeks.
This was back in the days when cars had heavy duty chrome bumpers.
Any how, I caught about one to two inches of the other cars bumper, It was on the rounded corner of the bumper. You could not see a mark on the other car.. With the power of me hitting the gas and just bumping the other car had the power to throw me in to the tree.
I then crashed in to a tree, totaled my car.
A bunch of people, 20 to 30, dark skin, show up in one to two minutes. They all accused my friend, the Passenger as the driver. It was 100% lying, and they knew it, or most of them was just supporting the other driver, who was 100% at fault and got a ticket. They all lied to accused one person that offended one of the Africans...
Funny thing is, His head hit the windshield, poked a big hole in it, and his hair (Blond) was webbed between the broken glass, just about where the review mirror was. My head (dark Brown hair) hit the cross beam between the windshield and car door, on the driver side.
Now this is in front of Martin Luther King's Park, The civil rights leader.
Any how, my friend told me he flipped the finger to the cars blocking the road as we passed. I had no idea. and lost my car.
This is the tree I hit. and you can see a car way off in the distance, just be for the small hill that blocked my view of the cars parked, blocking my safe passage to my destination.
This photo (Google Map) is looking North, the way I was going was headed south.
