I'm a realtor. Had my carpet guy put in new carpet in the basement for the house my parents bought. It is a medium pile. My mom and a few of the grandkids get very red eyes when in the basement now. They bought the house in sept 2020. Pulled out old carpet, then had cleaners come in to clean the floor, then had the new carpet installed. At first we thought maybe it was just off-gassing and that it would pass, but it has been over a year now. What would you folks recommend? Might some sort of cleaning possibly get rid of whatever is causing it? I don't know if it is some sort of micro dust fibre that is breaking off of the carpet and getting airborne or what.

The carper layer and manufacturer are dismissing it.

If you are allergic to any carpet materials, then it should be replaced and repaired in the future, taking into account your characteristics! I think someone will tell you a good company that will make you a quality repair!
