We are hoping he got bit by something else somewhere else. He only has a couple bites and no new ones for the past few nights. I am in the next room and I have no bites. We checked mattresses and box springs and nothing. I even went with my black light looking for specs of blood (their poop) and nothing. I am crossing my fingers here.
Set some glue traps around behind bed. See if you catch something. They sell traps with lure for bedbugs but I usually see the regular ones. The exterminator I met said he was setting them to see if there were any survivors. And he was only using the standard glue traps. He had us pad over the powder he had put down. Guess for that extra punch.

Bedbugs Could Spread Deadly, Heart-Damaging Chagas Disease

It was previously thought that Chagas disease, which kills an estimated 50,000 people per year, was exclusively carried by an insect called the kissing bug. But new research shows that bedbugs can also spread the disease, at least among mice.
University of Pennsylvania epidemiologist Michael Levy says he’s worried that bedbugs could distribute the parasitic disease among people, although there is no proof yet that this is happening.

So guys it has been a while and it seemed like everything is fine. However in the past couple nights I have gotten a couple itchy bumps and I am getting nervous again. I can't find any evidence of bed bugs tho.

I did find this. I looked online and it looks like carpet beetles.

But I literally only found those two larvae shells.

Here are the two of the three "bites" I have noticed.

The red line in that second picture on my arm is because I was just leaning on my chair.

Any input would be appreciated, because as you can see I am none too pleased with this situation

Yeah i couldn't tell you what that is but wife was complaining about the same situation at our place. I bought a mr100 steamer, and she went to town... Steamed everything and bagged what we didn't use regularly. After that she vacuumed really good, sprinkled diatomaceous earth (food grade) on the floor, around the bed and by the walls. Set out those sticky traps like was suggested. The only thing we find is little natts that fly in the traps. Other then that we have had no problems yet. She vacuums regularly like one or even twice a week and reapplies the diatomaceous earth and kind of rakes it in. Oh and clean all your clothes on high heat. Sorry for trouble your having hope it's nothing to serious. We caught our early enough I think and it's been almost three months now with no issues.

Are there any traps out there that work at catching bed bugs? I saw some research of a new product that does but it's not out yet. Anything currently on the market that you guys know about?

Are you still getting bitten? Great now im all itchy:mad:

I found one! Little fu**er got an alcohol bath death. The thing is I know there aren't many of them. Because my dad got huge bites when he found them in that hotel and he hasn't had any since then. And he sleeps all over the house. I think if I set up traps that's actually worked I would be ok

I have been an exterminator for almost 20 years and just purchased a carpet steam cleaning business. I have serviced student apartment complexes for over 15 years (and I have seen extreme bb issues). We have a dedicated dog and handler for detection of bedbugs. There is some good info here and some really bad info also. First, boric acid is not going to do much for bedbugs. Using foggers is the worst thing someone can do with a bedbug issue. Pyrethrum insecticides are the most resistant chemical formulation for bedbugs. So be careful and don't rush to try something that is quick and easy....bedbugs are neither quick or easy to get rid of.

The company I work for can heat the entire house (over 1 million BTU's of heat with 2 heaters) but that can get really $$$. ( and we have melted a few TV's and carpet fans). I do chemical treatments with Phantom and Temprid liquid spray (primary/follow up service) and also use Cimex and DE under baseboards and inside electrical outlets.

Cimex and DE makes me choke (I can't imagine using it on a mattress or any place it might get stirred up).

The biggest issue with treating bedbugs is the homeowner/tenant does not see how important it is for them to do a complete preparation for the service (including laundering everything)....they always want to cheap out on it.

Start with mattress encasements (on both mattress and box spring) and inspect the cracks/crevice areas of headboards, footboards, posts, etc. Also check the night stand, pictures hanging on the wall, and any boxes, guitar cases, or luggage that was under the bed (I find bb in items stored under the bed all the time).

AND......always call a professional licensed exterminator before you start a DIY bb service. You know there are guys that think they can clean better than your truckmount by using a rented rug doctor.....trying your own bed bug treatment is the same thing.

Oh...and there are some new pheromone traps on the market to try to "trap" bedbugs. I use a couple of the nightwatch systems that emit CO2 from a cylinder and heat to mimic a person sleeping.....but know that these are not devices for control, only for monitoring. Standard mouse type glue boards have no attractive component to lure bedbugs and will only capture them by chance.

There are some traps out that even use little "pocket warmer" things and work for one night......don't fall for all the gimmicks.

The thing is I feel (I don't want to say I know) that this is very isolated. My dad gets huge reactions to bites and has had none. And I have only gotten one bite at a time in three occasions. So I feel I am not dealing with a huge infestation. Plus I feel if we start spraying and such like that it might spread them out. I was going to just leave my bedroom open to the cold and let them freeze to death but like I said that might just make them move to the warmer areas of the house. What do you suggest?

I would call an exterminator. If there are no bedbugs. That's great. But if there's a few. It would be better to deal with them now before it becomes a bigger problem.

Do you guys think there is any chance of this scenario...?

My dad brought home one bed bug, that was a male. So it couldn't reproduce and so the one that I caught was my sole culprit? Lol wishful thinking huh

Hi there, I'm in desperate need of assistance to eliminate bed bugs from my apartment. They have become a constant source of anxiety for me, and despite my attempts with various methods, they just won't go away. I feel completely overwhelmed and unsure of what steps to take next. If anyone could kindly provide me with advice or helpful tips on how to successfully eradicate these pests, I would be immensely grateful. I'm open to trying different approaches as my ultimate goal is to restore a healthy and bed bug-free environment. Thank you so much in advance for your assistance
