I had something happen yesterday that ought to make me and others on here think before they rush out to do a job. I was called out for a fairly small one bedroom job. ONE BEDROOM!!!! There have been no reported cases of the coronovirus in my county and I think still most have been in the St. Louis area. The customer had just come from California because their mother was having health problems and can't take care of herself anymore. Nothing to do with the virus, just old age problems. She had wet the bed and the room was stinking so I examined to carpet for possible urine from incontinence and there was none. They decided to remove the mattress and I cleaned the room and also did a little area in a very nice RV they drove from California to Missouri in.
So why am I making this post? It turns out the man who owned that expensive RV had been to Seattle and that he had been sick, but never thought it necessary to actually get checked for the virus about 2 months ago. He got over his illness, but still has some chest congestion. He has been around others for some time and nobody else has gotten sick from him so I really don't think he has or had the current virus. He did say there was an outbreak in Seatle right after he left there!!!!! Well that made me wince. He tells me this after I did the bedroom and was about to go into the RV!!! It brought home to me in a profound way that I need to be checking out people who are calling me, ESPECIALLY if they are coming from another area. I will be rejecting service if I think they're sick or have been around the virus. Some will get angry and may cuss you out for doing this so get ready for it. The person who actually called me was a police officer from California and from what I can tell he doesn't take this thing seriously and was a rather rough individual if you catch my drift. It won't be serious to some folks until they're on their death bed or they put someone they love on their death bed or in the ground. I've just canceled a planned trip to see some loved ones in another state next month and I strongly advise you not to travel until this thing is over.
Btw, the relatives I would be visiting are in their late 60's and mid 70's. This virus would almost certainly be a death sentence to either of them. Both of them already have compromised health issues and the virus would mean almost certain death to either of them.
